Agree on the Pelicans. Anthony Davis needs to be in the playoffs even if it's a quick series. I have no desire to watch a gassed Westbrook try to beat the NBA's best team all by himself. OKC is going to have an interesting offseason.

I would love to watch Westbrook try that. You're going to get at least one incredible game from him.

Yeah, watching Westbrook try and single handily beat GS while simultaneously strangling Dion Waiters is going to be much more entertaining than 150 Tyreke Evans drives to nowhere.

Remind me not to watch any Rockets playoff games. The Hack-a-Joey and Hack-a-Clint isn't something you want to allow your kids to see.

Dorsey 21-75 28%
Capela 0-15 0%

That's not a typo.....Clint Capela has missed all 15 of his FTA in his NBA career including two airballs i witnessed the other night. (and all 6 of his FG's have been dunks)

Capela has played in all of 3 games since the start of Feb, so I doubt you'll be seeing much of him in the playoffs. Dorsey will get some run, but it should be limited provided Dwight stays healthy.

I think we'll see McHale try a few different small ball lineups when Dwight is on the bench, trying to take advantage of the speed and quickness of guys like Josh Smith and Terrence Jones while hoping they don't get killed on the glass. He may see if he can steal a few minutes with those guys "guarding" opposing bigs (like Tyson Chandler and Amare if they play Dallas in round 1).

That doesn't stop teams from also employing the always entertaining Hack-a-Dwight strategy, but I'll be focused on James Harden tearing it up rather than worrying about Clint Capela at the line.

And the Spurs are now murdering the Rockets. This team is locked and loaded for the playoffs.

The Spurs have to be licking their chops looking at that 3-6 matchup with Houston, although with the way the two teams are playing, they might wind up being the 3 seed.

Would be huge for the Celtics if Chicago holds on to this game vs Miami.
Chicago was down by 19 at the half. Had a 33-8 3rd QTR and they're up by 6 entering the 4th.

17-23 incuding 8-13 from behind the arc.  45 points.  10 dimes.  And possibly an MVP.  Yeah, he can pose all he wants.

I think it is great.  Curry and those like him (even WR in the NFL) are the best in the world at what they do.  I applaud them and want them to celebrate when they do something good. Its fun.

Curry also broke his NBA record for made threes. It was 272. He now has 276. Westbrook is a force of nature. Harden is a magician. But I will take peak Curry over them right now. I don't care much about awards but last night should cement him as the MVP.

Since the all-star break, Curry is shooting 52% on 3s, with 8.5 attempts per game.  That is insane.

Luke Babbitt at 51% even with just over 100 attempts came out of nowhere but what Kyle Korver is doing is nuts......49% over the entire season on over 400 attempts!

Wild one in Denver. Double OT, 1:30 to go, Denver by one over Dallas. Ty Laswson with 19 and 18 assists, Gallinari with 47 on 15-12 shooting.

So Spurs up to #3 seed with 2nd straight victory over the Rockets. And if I read the tiebreakers right, if the Clippers beat the Grizzlies tomorrow night they'll jump from #5 seed to #2 seed.

Finished with 47 on 15-23 shooting lol.

The MVP race is fascinating. I think Curry is probably going to win it, when you combine his statistical dominance with the Warriors dominance as a team, he has the most appealing case to voters. If I had a vote, I would go with Harden, if only for the following reason: In theory, Curry could have an off game, where he might only score 10-15 points, and GS can still easily win because they have Thompson, and then Draymond Green or Iggy or Barnes or Livingston or someone like that could easily score 20 and GS could still easily win. Houston really does not have anybody else like that, they are almost wholly dependent on Harden scoring 25+ points. Harden leads the team in minutes played, and the next 4 guys are Ariza, Montejunas, Beverley and Jason Terry. He has twice as many points as anybody else on his team. Curry has a great case as well, and if he won he derseved it, but I think Harden wins the "Valuable" arguement.

See I give it to Curry because even on his rare off nights those other players are scoring 20+ due to the spacing and open lanes created by Curry.

The three are obviously very close but when you factor in the special season that Golden State is having he gets my nod.

Westbrook finishes with 54 9 and 8, but gets his 16th Technical, which, untimely for OKC, results in a 1 game suspension. However, OKC is trying to get it rescinded and so Thorn will look at it Monday morning.

While he could have utilized Morrow more as a 3-point outlet (4 shots in 29 min) it wasn't like RWB shot 14-43. He still MADE 21 FG's and kept the Thunder in the game as the only shot creator not named Waiters on the roster. A passive Westbrook with that lineup and the game is over by the 3rd quarter.

Westbrook has another tech rescinded by the league. That rule is kind of a joke, star players already get T'd up too infrequently as it is, and when they get close to the limit the league finds a reason to rescind one.

Not arguing your point but if you saw the T last night you knew it was going to be rescinded no matter who it was. The official himself looked like he wish he took it back it was so lame.

Knicks beat the Hawks by 4 to win their second game in a row and push them out of a tie for the #1 spot in the lottery with Minnesota because they're the Knicks

Warriors 61-36 with 4 minutes left in the first half.

The west is crazy to the end, with just 1 game to go.

3 teams at 55-26, with Memphis a game behind. The Spurs will be facing a highly motivated Peiicans team.....but worth a fight by the Spurs to keep the #2 seed and the seemingly cushier match-up vs the Mavs. If they lose the Clippers move to #2, assuming they beat the Suns. And the Rockets move up from their current #5 seed should they win (vs the Jazz) and the Spurs and Clippers both lose.

Some fun....sure looks like the Clippers-Grizzlies will be the most competitive 1st round series. The Grizz should be healthier and are a made for playoff team. The first round as a whole doesn't seem as epic as it promised earlier this year, the Spurs, Dubs, and Rockets should be pretty clear favorites.

2nd round sure as heck still promises to be epic.

Great read, Jackie is awesome. Pretty damning indictment of the Nets. PP is in Barkley mode before retirement.

Also interesting that next year is it for him, I don't remember seeing that officially before. I think he'd love being on this Celtics team in his current role based on his comments about effort. I get the impression that this team is all in based on Marcus and IT being the leaders.

Double OT happening in Indy as the Pacers fight for their playoff spot. George hit a big pullup jumper to tie the game to send it into the second OT.

The Pacers don't have the players to space and score the ball, the Wizzards don't have the coach to draw plays that can produce even marginally efficient shots. Fire Wittman, fire him now!

What a great night for the Association. The Brow needs to beat the defending champs and the hottest team in the league to get in. Or OKC needs to somehow lose to the T'Wolves to miss dragging their hobbled carcass into the dance.

Spurs shot 58% in the first half, yet trail the Pelicans by 16 at the Half.

The Thunder scored 47 points in the 1st Quarter.  76 for the Half.  Westbrook has 34 in what will likely be his last game of the season.

Spurs shooting 60% from the field midway through the fourth and now only down by five. Nobody wants these guys in a short series...or a long one.

interesting that Heat are tied with 76ers in a game that both Phi & Mia wants to lose - if Mia wins, their chances of keeping their pick (top 10 protected) are halved or so I believe.

And Beasley decides to go for 32.

Loss would move Spurs down to 5 seed, right? Would be pretty costly for them, as they'd get GS in the semis instead of WCF.

Potentially sixth if Memphis wins.

From ESPN:

Philadelphia's loss to Miami wasn't the only loss the Sixers suffered tonight. The Sixers had OKC's 1st-round pick, but it was lottery-protected, so the Thunder will keep it by virtue of missing the playoffs. In addition, the Nets' win means Miami clinches the 10th-worst record and has a 91% chance of keeping the top-10 protected pick it owes to Philly.

Now that we can see the entire draft order, I just was to reiterate how insane it is that OKC is picking ahead of the Celtics in the upcoming draft.

Obviously injuries and the difference in conference are major factors in addition to the Celtics play, but still amazing.

Guess this belongs more in the draft thread…. my head is still spinning.

Just what the OKC franchise needs, a lottery pick. They'll probably end up winning a Top 3 pick, right?

Good, fuck the Sixers. Regardless of how one feels about their rebuilding strategy, they're a potential division rival. If all they have to work with is their own 1st and a bunch of 2nds, they're easily going to be back in the same spot next year.

Agree with the sentiment, but aren't they likely to add Embiid, Saric (is he coming?), and a top 3 pick this year?

In the East, they might not be that terrible.  Maybe.

I loved Embiid out of college but if he is either not healthy or has trouble adapting right away as a rookie (he's still fairly new to bball) then I don't know how much upside they really have. Saric is a question mark. Russell or whoever will add much needed scoring but that still only gives them a few promising youngsters + a bunch of nobodies unless they absolutely kill the 2nd round this year or make some other moves.

@ArashMarkazi: Sore left calf for Paul George.
When I have a "sore left calf" I typically don't have two 240 lb men carrying me first to the bench and later to the locker room to avoid me putting any weight on either leg.

Rushing George back while he is still favoring one leg places his other leg at great risk. And there ya go.
