Final six regular season games start tonight with the first of three against the Orioles.
I haven't been this unexcited in a Red Sox game/series since mid-April I think.
Mid March for me.
I hope this thread hits 100 posts by game end
I don't know. Do we have some marginal pitchers we can "test" in high-lev situations? 'Cause I haven't gotten enough of that recently.
Seriously. I feel like the last two games were completely winnable. The only thing they proved is that Pomeranz and Scott are not worthy of a playoff roster spot. . . which we all pretty much knew already.
I actually quite enjoy them kicking the sh*t out of Baltimore and the Showalters, so I'm looking forward to tonight.
I actually found the Cuevas "start" pretty interesting last night. He did himself a favor for next year, with the Sox or otherwise.
Maybe a double-header on Wednesday coming up?
Why is that (rain today or tomorrow?).
No reason Kimbrel or Barnes couldn't have gone 2 innings last night.
Tomorrow's forecast looks like rain from 10 AM onward.
You know, they don’t have to make up postponements at this point unless the commissioner rules it necessary for playoff implications.
I did look that up as soon as I asked. Send the rain out here (Cal). You probably don't need it. That's as bad as the "is it hot enough for you" one I suppose.
as Pete said, no Nunez. troubling
yeah, and as soon as the Astros lose one more or we win one more, it will be entirely meaningless. the Orioles are now locked into the worst record as far as the draft goes.
I can 100% see one of these games being outright cancelled.
Hoping for at least 108 wins (2 out of every 3!), 110 still in play. It's a good point by SFS, though, that they might not need to make up any upcoming rained out game (with Baltimore anyway, WC HFA might still matter for Yankees).
Going to have to make fans go to the ballpark regardless, tomorrow is Duct Tape Pedro Bobblehead night.
I only say that half kidding. When you hype a promo like that and have people buying tickets for an item, I’m not sure what happens if they PPD early in the day and/or didn’t reschedule. I guess just make a lot of people upset and screw over some EBay resellers who already pre-ordered?
Absence of Nunez noteworthy, but the presence of Bogie more so.
Not really, since the plan was to have him available on Tues., at the earliest.
I think he has inflammation.
I get the impression, albeit without any real evidence, they Bogaerts kicks and screams the most when told he’s not in the lineup.
Yeah, lets play the guy with bad wheels in the rain. If he makes it through unscathed then we'll know he's healthy. I'm about 237 fucktillion times happier to see Bogaerts in than I am bothered by Nunez out. Maybe 238.
Is Kinsler hurting as well? I feel like I've seen him once, or not at all, since game 2 in NY.
I feel like two can play at that game.... if we're that worried about rainy conditions, why not trot out the entire B team?
Answering my own question, Kinsler appears to suck against Bundy, and Holt hits him rather well.
Today is Kevin Millar's birthday. I'm sure nothing would please him more than to see his favorite team, the one he helped win its first championship in 86 years, defeat...another team he played for.
I really need the distraction of baseball today.
It would please him even more, if a team he played his last major league game for, five years after said historic championship, would beat a team he didn't play for.
Is it though?
It would depend on what troubles you.
I'd give Kinsler a couple of days off to see if he can find his swing again somehow.
Looking at the shot into the dugout, I've never seen a squad so loose and happy
I’m feeling anxiety.
Did you see the drumming last night?
No, the bullpen like the good ole days?
Brock Holt, playing an imaginary drum in time to the guy in the stands.
seems like it would be tough to be in a bad mood when Brock is in the room
and the show goes on
This Red Sox team, like the Celtics (and Bruins now that I think about it), have so much talent without much ego. If I was Mookie or JDM, my head would be the size of a blimp.
They cheesedicked it. Huh.
Eovaldi's pitches look sick tonight.
Eck is a sommelier for pitching
Nate is straight up...
Mow, mow, mowing.
I wish Devers was better.
Clipping tricks down.
boom or bust for Devers this year. not the most surprising thing.
Is the Red Sox offense going to be able to flick the light switch back to the on position when it matters?
Steve Pearce is the King of Sock. There is none higher.
