Warde did a good job for us (UConn fan here).
Even though Calhoun shoved Kevin Ollie down his throat, he did end up extending him after his first year and then he goes on to win a national championship.
He hired Bob Diaco who had brought back the football program to respectability - first bowl game in 5 years this year with hope for better seasons to come.
Brought hockey into Hockey East, hired top BC-assistant Cavanaugh, the hockey program is drawing 5-6K per game to the XL center. Hockey is back in CT.
Helped raised the funds for one of the top basketball facilities in the country.
Even though it's an awful way to measure the qualifications of student athetes, he did provide the infrastructure to turn around the APR for men's hoops.

Now all he needs to do is convince the B1G to swap us with Rutgers and we're ready to roll!

Great hire by Michigan

Warde is solid, he's not asthetically appealing (he's a fat slob) but is well liked by everyone. He and Harbaugh should be interesting, but Calhoun and Geno are probably a good starting point. He's a UM man through and through and this was always his "Dream Job"

and while he gets mocked around UConn for watching UConn fail in realignment, it was never really on him, but Jurich's claims made Warde look bad through that period.

As Stuck said, he did a lot of good things, preparing UConn for a move to the B1G if that is ever a possibility.

Agreed Stuck, except I believe hockey has been back in CT for at least a little while. Head south on I-91 from Hartford, and Exit 10 will get you to the #1 ranked team in men's college hockey, and Exit 3 will get you to the 11th ranked team.

Back at CT (as in UConn), agreed.

No shock he went back to UM. I gather he'll be a leetle less controversial than the last guy.

That's a good point - as a UConn grad and fan my bad for forgetting about QU and Yale!

I should have said "Hartford" hockey...

You guys shouldn't have an excuse for not collecting a BCS Trophy within the next 2-4 years. Yes, I'm a Lion, but I see glory in all things good for B1G. I'm actually happy that Big Blue is trending upwards. Tradition and all.

Watched 5 minutes of Khaleke's hl and the impressions I got:
1. He's a football player. Loves contact. Not afraid to lower his shoulder. Loves the physical side of the game.
2. He is not Jabrill Peppers. I don't know how comparable their competition was and I would assume Peppers' was better, but Peppers athleticism jumped off the screen a lot more than Hudson.
3. He has good vision, but not breakaway speed.
4. Reads the game well, had some nice pass breakups.

I can see why people are excited about him, but I think that excitement needs to be tempered a bit.

For Eubanks, I've seen the Funchess comparison, and I see it a little bit in the body type. Eubanks looks a little thicker. He also seems a lot more physical than future Super Bowl champion, Devin Funchess. He fights for extra yardage and seems to be a willing blocker, though his technique needs a lot of refinement. He played basketball so that athleticism is there. I like him, but I still want Asiasi. I want to see some 5 TE sets!

Not to douse your Gary hopes, but he took time out of his Clemson visit today to "like" Devery Hamilton's tweet where he announced his flip from UM to Stanford. Just sayin...

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady headlines a group of sports figures adding big-name clout to Michigan’s National Signing Day event, according to Sports Illustrated.

Brady will be joined Wednesday by former Yankees star Derek Jeter, former Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland, NASCAR’s Brad Keselowski, and other sports celebrities. Ravens coach John Harbaugh, the brother of Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh, will also attend.

Spending more time on Twitter than paying attention to his Clemson visit. Wow. ;)

The Hamilton switch is a pretty big loss. He was the only true tackle in the class. It is looking more likely that Ben Bredeson will start his career on the outside, a la Mason Cole. The only prospect on Michigan's radar, barring a late flip, is EJ Price who is a long shot.

I've got an inside source at Clemson and he says Gary is a toss up, which pretty much jives with what the mother said publicly yesterday. There's a real shot he flips.

I don't how he could flip when he hasn't committed.

In any event, confirmation from TheoShmeo or it didn't happen.

Bad choice of words on my part, got carried away with the name of the thread. He's been a heavy lean to Michigan with the HS connections obviously, even though Clemson could use a special teams coach.

I should know if he informs Clemson before he announces it. I'll be sure to get that over to TheoShmeo ASAP.

Updates throughout the day, but Nate Johnson reaffirmed his commitment and Lavert Hill finally committed to Michigan. Quinn Nordin at 11, Rashan Gary at 1, and Boss Tagaloa and Devin Asiasi at 3.

Guys anyone have any insight about Connor Murphy? Wasn't he supposed to announce this AM? I'm not finding anything on him other than he leans USC.

It won't shock me if Gary ends up at Clemson. It also won't take away from the fact that Harbaugh has had a great first year of recruiting.

We'll see how it plays out.

Looks like it might be BS, Barton Simmons just tweeted that he never tweeted that tweet that is in the story. I think he's going to UM, but neither would shock me.

Brady was just chatting with Harbaugh and says he watches every game. That's so cool. He got to introduce Nordin after which, they showed his highlight clip. Said clip included 3 kicks, 2 punts and then Sweet Lou spitting all over the mic (literally, not like the cool young kids mean it these days). This whole event is really well produced - sharp looking set, sleek graphics, branding everywhere, etc. It is entirely surreal. Brady now chatting with RB recruit Kingston Davis.

There's still Devin Asiasi and Boss Tagaloa's announcements at 3, but yeah, it really does cap off the class.

Some info on Gary:
"This is a really good defensive line class and he is head and shoulders above every other D-lineman in this class," one longtime college coach said. "He's 300 pounds and he moves well enough, he can play end. He's great with his hands. He's strong. He's been very well-coached and has had a great high school D-line coach. Rashan Gary is the Leonard Fournette of this class."
He's gonna be a good one.

Only guy that wasn't announced at SotS today was Dytarious Johnson, who is having transcript problems. He still has his spot, it seems like a paperwork issue at the moment.
