Montreal and Calgary both drove off a cliff compared to expectations. Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Toronto sucked as expected. Vancouver and Ottawa just aren't good enough this year. There's a clear top 9 in the West, and none of them are Canadian. Ottawa and Montreal are currently in the group of 4 that's just behind the top 8. Either of them could get hot and make a run and be a wild card, but as it sits now, they aren't in.

Between here and everywhere.
If Montreal is smart - they'll realize this is a lost year and allow Price the extra time to heal 100%.

He IS that team, and the potential of getting into the playoffs this year vs. his long term health isn't worth the risk.

3 year, 9.25 millions for Marcus Kruger. Sooner or later the Hawks are going to run into cap problems, no?

Good for Kruger given he signed a very team-friendly deal in the offseason and proceeded to get hurt this year. Nice to see he didn't get screwed.

Arizona D Jarred Tinordi suspended 20 games for PEDs.

Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Toronto sucked as expected.
The funny thing is, of all the Canadian teams, Winnipeg was the one (besides Montreal) that advanced stats liked for a good chunk of the season. And they were a 99-point playoff team last season. Their problem was they relied on Pavelec and Hutchinson to repeat their 2014-15s and neither had much of a chance to.

John Scott's revenge

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Arizona Coyotes defenceman Jarred Tinordi has been suspended 20 games without pay for violating the terms of the NHL and NHL Players' Association joint performance enhancing substances program.

The NHL said in a statement that Monday that the suspension is accompanied by mandatory referral to the NHL/NHLPA substance abuse program for evaluation and possible treatment.

"I am extremely disappointed that I failed a test under the NHL/NHLPA performance enhancing substances program," Tinordi said in a statement released by the NHLPA. "I did not knowingly take a banned substance. I understand, however, that I am responsible for what enters my body as a professional athlete and I accept the suspension. I will work hard towards my return to the ice and will learn from this frustrating setback."

About that Tinordi thing ...

Didn't Bergevin give a quote something to the effect of "reasons I can't tell you about" when the trade went down? We all ASSumed it was to get Scott out of the all star game. I wonder if they knew he was using even if they didn't know about the positive test? Wouldn't that be a hell of a thing to come out.

Per the ScoreMobile push notification, Subban was released from the hospital today with a "non-serious neck injury". Do I get $10 or whatever for correctly diagnosing it?

On mobile, linking not happening at the moment.

But it seems that Wideman's suspension has been reduced from 20 to 10 games. He's already served 19 apparently. GJ, GE NHL

The other bit that came out about expansion is that almost all of the talking heads around the league (LeBrun, McKenzie, Friedman, etc.) are calling a 1-team expansion. Quebec City just needs to be given a copy of "He's Just Not That Into You" collectively.

Then I saw this from McKenzie a few minutes ago:

I mean, just tell QC they're not getting an NHL team. They gave Hamilton that much, at least.

This story has kind of been buried due to Roger and the NFL's buffoonery, but the NHL has been involved with their own concussion lawsuit. Yesterday, as part of the case, hundreds of NHL emails were made public. Link is below, it is ugly. Colin Campbell looks like a dunce yet again. Small part of the whole case, but going back to Savard/Cooke, there is an email from good ol' Collie to Mike Milbury sayin Savard should keep his head up.

Tanev signed a 1 year ELC with Winnipeg. Great move for him as he'll be an RFA after the next handful of games.

Keith? Absolutely. In-person means 5+ games is on the table for a suspension. He's sit for a while for taking an intentional swing at someone's face with his stick

Yeah. He's got to get double digit games, right? It's his second stick attack infraction, and the optics are bad. I would put the O/U at 10.5 and I'd be inclined to take the over.

I hope so. Shit like what he pulled has no place in any sport outside of the Fencing ring (is that what they call it?).

Given he only got one for the bullshit he pulled on Carter in 2013 and is still considered a repeat offender, 10ish sounds right. Pretty much the same move but from a different angle and with similar, or worse, results. Fucking idiot.

Should've been 10. My buddy was right in saying they had to suspend him for some playoff games. 2 playoff games was too little though I'm sure my Chicago friends (normally rational guys I played with) will be ripshit.
