Montana led Eastern Washington 61-52 with 4:17 left. Since then, a 10-0 run by the Eagles to grab the lead with just over 2:00 left in Missoula. The Grizz are choking uncharacteristically.

I feel for Montana giving it away but there's no excuse for blowing it mentally like they did on that possession. A bucket at around 18 seconds puts big pressure on Eastern Washington to get the ball in and make their free throws. A team as good as Villanova almost fell due to that pressure last night. Oh well. Helluva championship week.

Is Duke really going to get a #1 without winning the regular season or tournament?

No...if it goes to an ACC school, I'd think UVA gets the 4th #1 seed along with Villanova and Wisconsin should they win.

I'd bet that Arizona might get it though.

Villanova and ND won one combined Big East tourney in 54 combined years. Yesterday they won two in the ACC and new Big East.

You guys really feel Virginia will be a 1 over Duke? I don't see this happening at all.
Well, you won't find out unless Wisconsin loses to MSU, but I believe the committee will have UVA higher on the curve than Duke. Maybe they'll discuss the overall rankings of the 2 seeds in the interview. At minimum, we'll know the worst 2 seed (whichever team is in Kentucky's region).

You could make a case for both Duke and Virginia as 1 seeds but if I had to take one team I'd take Duke. I feel Duke and Virginia are so close in both eye test and on paper that the difference would be Duke's win in Charlottesville. Duke has that win and a big road win at Wisconsin in their back pocket. The uncertain status of Justin Anderson could play in as well. How effective will he be? Is UVA the same team that they were when he was at full strength? It will be very close between Duke, Wisconsin, and UVA. Honestly, the overall 4 and 5 seeds aren't much of a difference. They are on track for an E8 matchup with the only difference being the color uniform worn by either side.

This article from SB Nation says they abandoned the S-Curve and if Wisconsin doesn't get a 1 seed they can wind up as a 2 seed in the Midwest with Kentucky.

Wisconsin is widely regarded as one of the three best teams in college basketball, and perhaps the squad best-equipped to take down undefeated and soon-to-be No. 1 overall seed Kentucky. Still, regardless of how the Badgers fare in Sunday's Big Ten championship game (throwback to problem No. 1), there is a very real chance that they will wind up on the tournament's second line.
If Bo Ryan's team is a No. 2 seed, it's more than likely that they will be the top No. 2 seed, or (if you're into looking at it this way) the tournament's No. 5 overall team. With the committee's method of geographical preference in play, the Badgers would be assigned to the Midwest Region -- the same region where Kentucky will be the top seed.

RT @slmandel: Here is the committee's official 1-68 list. Dayton was the last team in.

Texas mystique? And the fact that they're better than Colorodo State by just about any reputable measure, and clearly belong in the field.

We should really be better on this site than to continue to cite RPI.

How is Dayton allowed to play a home game against Boise?
Allowed? The site of the First Four this year is Dayton, OH. The Flyers were the last at-large team in the tournament. There was no possible way to avoid this short of bumping them up 4 seeds or bumping them out based solely on the pre-determines location of The First Four.

No, but maybe they could have not also given them potentially two more semi-home games in Columbus?

Speaking of semi-home games, Gottlieb said on the broadcast last night that Arizona gets two "almost home games" in Portland.

Portland, OR.

Villanova had to play Dayton on their home court in the 8/9 game in the '85 Tourney. Closest game they played besides vs. G'town in championship.
