4 years makes it (fairly) clear this is his last stop, and it might give the Lakers ability to wait on the young guys a bit. I'm not sure that'll happen, but it creates a different dynamic than Lebron's last couple stops timing-wise.

From an NBA perspective this is pretty ideal.

Who'll end up around him? Renews energy around Kawhi deal for sure. I can't see why Orlando wouldn't match on Aaron Gordon, but sort of interesting basketball fit. And the 4 year length does make it viable to sign someone short-term (Cousins?) and give it a year with the kids.

Sure he wants to but if Danny gives the best package it doesn't matter what Kahwi wants.
Yeah, I get how trades work. And it absolutely matters what Kawhi wants. He's a FA next year.

I'm not trading Brown if Kawhi is still putting that out there. If we start to hear differently, then maybe.

So was Paul George. I'd bet that once in the fold and a trip to the Finals could change his mind quickly. Also the fact he can get the most money wherever he lands next.
Yeah but I actually believe the conspiracy theory that LeGM told PG to fuck off once Kawhi became free. Kawhi wont change his mind if Lebron wants him.

Getting rid of KCP/Lopez/IT for Lebron alone makes them close to a 50 win team

Add Kawhi and they are better than the 2018 Cavs
The last two times he moved teams, he arranged for there to be two other stars or near-stars with him. But this time he signs before Kawhi or any other top-tier player?

Lakers can bring back Randle now, roll the max space over to next year and sign Kawhi or another max.

I'm still completely fascinated that big time players want to play with LeBron. He's great, your team will be good. But has a really good player ever come out looking better from playing with LeBron? Kyrie maybe? But in some ways LeBron hid how good he is. Bosch maybe?

Yeah, you've got a good chance getting a ring if you're alongside him, but if you lose, you're taking all of the heat.

Is Boogie going to get a max deal, or a one year deal to show he can still play? Can the Lakers do a sign and trade with the pelicans and still get Kawhi?

The play for SA really is to wait this out. It would be amusing if LA starts with this crew or this plus Boogie, and isn't that great. Then the price goes up, up, up. Yeah, Kawai is going there for sure, but a burned year for him is a real cost, and for LeBron, it could be a huge cost.

Yes, but next year is looking like a no go for them. LBJ will be 35 when they are ready.
Maybe he thinks a year without a long playoff run will be good for him.

To me this feels like the rumors that his family would have more input this time around were true and everyone wanted to live in LA full time.

Spurs have him for only one more year, then he is unrestricted, his value diminishes every game into the season he plays.

They should let him go unless he can suddenly shoot.
He shot 58% on 2s last year, 72% from the line, advanced stats liked his year. He’s a productive player that if nothing else would give them a young asset on a mid-tier contract in trades.

I'm shocked he made this move before they acquired Kawhi. Now Boogie is out of the picture too? If Pop won't deal with LA, this is a bizarre play.

Please please please trade him.

Yeah, in this environment he won’t get as much beyond his worth as the last two seasons, but in the playoffs, in half-court situations and needing stops, I wouldn’t expect him to see the floor much.

They can trade him to a contender mid-year.
It might be wishful thinking, but if you've got a petulant superstar, or even one you just want to move, you wait until you get an absolute ransom, see Danny's deal for Pierce and Garnett to Brooklyn. We could have dealt them for DeAndre Jordan. We did infinitely better.

Lakers no longer have the space to sign Boogie unless it's a huge discount. Sign and trades have to be for three years, can't see LA being willing to lock him in for three years, or Boogie being willing to leave last two years non-guaranteed to facilitate a deal.

Hard to see a way Boogie happens in LA.

If he were willing to take non-guaranteed years, they might be able to sign and trade Randle along with Deng contract if Randle could work out a deal with New Orleans. Seems unlikely though.

Lakers first order of business now should be Randle. Either signing him up, or signing and trading him.

Maybe this is a transitional year for Lebron/Lakers. They keep their young assets this season. Sign Kawhi next year. Deal assets for veterans next year.

KCP and now Brook Lopez, yuck
