Sorry to resurrect a thread from two years ago, but I just finished the first season and it is absolutely worth your time. The very first scene will tell you that you are not watching your standard redemption-arc documentary.

Also starring a real-life Tami Taylor.

It has three seasons now, and I think the third one is at an entirely different school, but I'm only partway through season 2.

I will bump a four-year-old thread.
I have watched the basketball series and am halfway through the football series.
One advantage of watching this six years after it was filmed is I wait until the series is over, then check if my predictions about the people in the show came true. So far they have almost all ended up as I thought. But, they two players I assumed were going places, I was wrong about one of them.
