I'd be interested if the money wasn't crazy. He's only 27, and you can play him up or down the lineup. Unfortunately, the money will likely be crazy.
10 assists playing on that line...do not want

Can't believe Condra went for just 3/3.75, would have loved him instead of Rinaldo on the 3rd/4th line.  Condra is excellent on the PK as well.  His line was a huge part of OTT late season surge.

He could have been Chris Kelly at 1/2 the cost.

I like him but the numbers could get ugly. Would hope it's under $4AAV, but that seems unrealistic at this point.

Includes him as in his hit isn't taken off through LTIR yet or included as in it is?
That number includes Savard's cap hit. With him on LTIR, it's $10.2 million.

If they get him for under $25m total I would be ok with it. Anything over $30m and it's terrible. In between and I'm meh.

My buddy texted me he heard 5 for $22ish.  No idea what the source was, guessing it was radio.

Additionally, The Post has learned the Panthers have offered 25-year-old center Jimmy Hayes, older brother of the Rangers’ Kevin Hayes, to the Blueshirts as part of a package for Talbot, who would then become Roberto Luongo’s backup, at least for the short-term.
The elder Hayes is an impending restricted free agent with a $971,000 qualifier seeking a much more expensive multi-year deal that probably would not fit into the Rangers’ limited cap space.

What's the deal with Hayes? He's enormous and he's from Dorchester. Can he play hockey?
He was very highly touted coming into BC.  Like most big guys, his brother included, he took about 2 to 3 years to learn how to play to his body type, realizing he could overpower college players with his size instead of trying to finesse it like a Gaudreau.  No idea what's happened to his pro career.

I'm fully on board with that.

Jimmy Hayes is extremely intriguing, he's a huge body with offensive talent. If they're gonna stick with the "Bruins hockey" identity, he's the kind of guy I want.

In retrospect, Hayes had a productive season in that he reached career-highs in goals (19) and assists (16) while playing in the most games in a season thus far in his career (72). However, something he’ll have to learn quickly is consistency. Over the course of the season, he had several offensive surges but those often came after going a number of games without any production at all or after being scratched for several games. To say Hayes had a bad season because he trailed off during the second half would be wrong, but to say he was inconsistent would be correct. The talent is there for Jimmy Hayes, and he’s everything you’d want in a power forward. He has a willingness to go the net and score dirty goals with the help of his 6’6″ frame, and overall he’s a physical presence on a team that is built around size.

@TheFourthPeriod: Sounds like a 5-year deal worth around $20M-$21M for Beleskey with the Boston Bruins. Deal isn't final yet. We'll see.

I can be on board with this.
thats not terrible

At a $4 AAV I'm intrigued and would be a lot more interested in listening than the $6ish I was expecting. I'd also be interested in Hayes depending on the cost. 19 goals for that Panther team ain't half bad.

Hoping for Cody Franson, doubt it'll happen though. Stupid question, how much cap space do they actually have?
Franson would be a very intriguing signing on the back end. I'd be a fan of that too.

Random but General Fanager has been killing it this offseason. I go to a player's old team to see their contract status, and they've already been moved to the new team's page. Beleskey's $3.8m AAV is already up on the B's page

So according to General Fanager we are at about 9 million dollars in cap space. This doesn't include Hayes deal, plus we still need a backup goalie, and perhaps a defenseman, so maybe another trade could be coming? Just me spitballing here

Vermette signs back with Arizona. That worked out for everyone. Arizona gets the deadline haul and Vermette back now, Chicago gets the Cup, and Vermette wins a Cup and then goes right back home.

That's one of those things I always think should happen more often.

"Look, we want you here and we know you like it here but we're bad this year and going nowhere. We're going to trade you and give a playoff run and get some players in here to move forward with. Come back after the year and let's do this together."

Just makes so much sense.
