They put more off days in this year and they really did a bad job overall, the worst scheduling I can remember.

NatsTown is beating the Mets 16-0 in the 4th inning, scoring 7 runs in the 1st and 3 in each of the next 3. Good job keeping that team together, Wilpons!!

Moving the Line
25-4 is Scorigami! Never done since 1908.

Only the 7th time since 1908 a team has scored 25+, allowed 4 or less. Previous times include 8/22/07 G1, the infamous 30-3 Texas beatdown, Boston smashing the Browns 29-4 on 6/8/50, Cleveland smacking the Browns 8/12/48 (G2), Yankees destroying the Athletics 25-2 5/24/36, Indians putting a hole in the Red Sox 27-3 7/7/23 G1, and the Reds over the Boston Rustlers (Braves) 6/4/1911 26-3.

Well, there was Chicago, 25 or 6 to 4 (1970).

Some more fun stuff about that Nats game.

- Matz had never given up a run in DC in 20 inn. Gave up 7 in the 1st.
- Mets played infield in in the 1st.. Didn't quite work out.
- Mets 1B Flores just walked off the field in the bottom of the 1st after a Nats hit. Guess he saw it coming.
- In the 4th inning the fan question was "which position player do you want to see pitch"
- It was Jose Reyes who pitched and threw over 40 pitches in the 8th, 6 runs, 2 HRs.
- In their first 30 years the Mats never used a position player to pitch. Per Mets broadcast.

Rougned Odor is the first player in MLB history to walk five times and homer in a nine inning game.

Tigers at A's is still scoreless, bottom of the 13th. Right now it's George Costanza's porn name (Buck Farmer) against an extra from Goodfellas (Nick Martini), and yet still I am irritated that MLBN hasn't switched to it, heh.

Evidently all it took to end that was me to post, the aforementioned Martini scores the winning run and the A's move 1 1/2 game ahead of SEA for the second wild card.

I do feel bad for Mariner fans. A lot of hope and you'd think even with their regression it would be good enough, but no the A's just have played their asses off for a 40 game stretch now.

they do have 4 head-to-head series left to change the tide... or the opposite.
