NHL network has said something twice about a trade between StL and PIT, but has not talked about the players yet at all.  Anyone know anything?  I can't find anything on google.

I actually won't mind the trade if he takes out Rinaldo in their next matchup.  Of course it's Lapierre so he has a better chance of giving Rinaldo rabies than actually doing something substantive.

I can't figure it out from an STL perspective. Lapierre was on a line with Ott, and they were a pain in the ass to play against in decent minutes for a fourth line. It was actually kind of fun to watch them beat up on top lines on the forecheck.

That seems like a negative trade for Pittsburgh, no?

I like Goc but they desperately needed another guy with some jam or some grit in the bottom six.  They've got one guy who is hard to play against - Downie.  Goc kills penalties and is a good faceoff guy but Lapierre is too, and he might get under somebody's skin and draw a penalty where Goc doesn't do that.

But isn't he just as likely to TAKE a penalty that hurts the team?

I don't know, just seems like kind of a pointless deal on both sides.

I haven't seen him much on the Blues this year but he's only got 16 PIMs so he's not racking them up like he used to I guess.

LaPierre's only drawn 2 penalties this year and he's committed 8 (Goc is 3/2). Over the last two years he's committed 24 and drawn 11 (Goc 14/15). His possession numbers are a big drop from Goc's. He might do other things but...I'm not sure what.
