He got traded away from a team that eventually reacquired him in a merger.  Good player with the Northstars and Islanders.

That series has to be the greatest series in hockey history. the animosity, intensity, was off the charts. The reffing was as close to blatant cheating you will see. The Canadian response was a no limits approach of violence that has always been defended using the language of war. There is a documentary coming out about it soon and I can't wait. The Russian players were equally resolute. To win three in a row in that atmosphere probably even surpasses 04 as an accomplishment. Of course the Soviets were much less evil than the Yankees.
 
The Soviets badly wanted another series like this, but Allan Eagleson could only find ways to make money with games in Canada and the USA, and after the experience in Moscow there were good reasons not to play in Russia at that time.
