Not only that but Bennett almost definitely makes the catch if he's not interfered with. It was the right call, and it had to be called in that situation.

The win against the Rams is it for me --- being such an underdog, the road it took to get to the game, the final drive.

LI is second, because ...

I went 49, The comeback was a miracle but 49 was a far superior game wire to wire with so many swings. The absolute despair to elation provided by the Butler pick eclipses any single moment of 51 as amazing as it was.
My Pats SB in order, mirroring others here:
49
51
36
38
39

I am picking 49 over 51. winning 4 tied Brady with Montana and Bradshaw and kept Patriots from "3 straight losses" post-Spy Gate. and it was at the time tied for greatest comeback, 10 points, and this time in the 4th quarter, and against one of the best defenses in recent times (not as great as Seahawks had in SB 48 but still damn good).

I'm struggling with this one.
The first is always the sweetest.
But the second and third made a dynasty.
The way the fourth ended was improbable.
The fifth was historic.
So many good things to say about all of them. Leaning towards 36, with a strong nod to 51.

The funny thing about this discussion is that pretty much nobody is picking 39 which IMO is clearly the best Patriot team to actually win a Super Bowl. Celebrating what is.

I remember quietly sitting down, saying "well, clearly they aren't meant to win a 4th," posted the same sentiment in the game thread here I believe, and entered a fugue state until Butler happened.
Must've been a brutal three-minute fugue for you.

EDIT: Actually, it really was. For all of us.

2004 of those options....

49 v 51, its a little edge to 49 but mostly not due to anything that happened on the field. I watched 49 with about a hundred Pats fans on a big screen in a room in downtown Seattle, the moment of the Butler interception and the walk home afterwards are fantastic memories for me. 51's comeback was thrilling and a joy to behold, but watching from a living room with just a couple other people wasnt the same experience.

If ranking in terms of catharsis and/or where one is in life, 49 wins for me. 36 was great, but what I wanted most then was the Red Sox -- I GLADLY would have traded Pats for Sox at that point.

But come 2014, the Sox had won THREE (holy shit) trophies, and now it was TB/BB who "needed" their legacy-defining win, not to be in the conversation (they were) but to have a legit shot of winning the conversation. Couple that to the various BS-gates over the previous ten (10) years since the last Lombardi, I wanted that SB more than any. Combine that with the Moment that was Butler (vs the slooow build that was 51) and I have to go with 49. Not even <insert your favorite P&G fixation> could make me go from down to up as rapidly and potently as 49.
