Check out Susan Slusser's timeline -- both Jarrod Parker and AJ Griffin may miss the start of the season for the A's.

This is a nice reminder of why you should never worry about having "too many starters."

Wow. While neither Griffin nor Parker are great pitchers (neither could even crack a 98 ERA+), they would decent enough and they were very durable. That was the whole strength of the A's starting staff last year. They only had 5 starts from anyone who finished with an ERA above 4.15 last year. Parker was also very effective at getting Quality Starts the past 2 years with 20 in 2012 and an impressive 23 last year.

The Parker news looks very troubling. He's been getting hammered in the spring this year and the report from Slusser's blog sounds like real bad news.

Parker's tweet Thanks to all my family, friends and fans for their support! I have a good feeling about the outcome of appt tomorrow. #GoodVibes of course refers to his appointment with Dr. James Andrews. Talked to my son's brother in law at the Dublin St. Patrick's Day festival yesterday. He is my huge A's fan contact and he assured me that they have some more young pups ready to bring up if worse comes to worst. I don't know, that well has to go dry sometime.

TJ surgery for Parker. Griffin to miss at least a month, and Kazmir scratched yesterday with soreness in his tricep. Not quite as bad as the Braves spring, but probably more damaging because the A's can't/won't just add salary to replace these guys like the Braves did by signing Santana.
