Have we heard anything official (outside of Chad's article) that this is Gresh's last day?

No but I'd have to imagine this is it for him outside of the Patriots pre and post game show.

I'm still trying to figure out what Gresh meant when he said "Don't believe everything you hear" to a caller after the story of his departure broke. The only thing I've heard is that his contract at TSH was not renewed and he was going to be replaced by Bertrand on the 10-2 show.

He's done. Doesn't want to acknowledge it. But it's true.

That's what I figured, but it was almost like Gresh was referencing some kind of a smear campaign that I wasn't aware of. The EEI folks don't seem to have a problem saying Salk was basically an asshat on the air, so it didn't seem to be out of the realm of possibility. I could definitely see his open disdain for Felger (the star of the station) or his high opinion of himself (possibly asking for big contract) helping hasten his exit from TSH.

In Chad's chat today it was mentioned he might be on for a couple days next week but he's definitely done.
Gresh is getting bounced from the top rated sports show in it's slot because of his behavior. That's gotta hurt.

Whatever his faults might have been, his work for the high school Super Bowl telecasts should be remembered.

I'm going to miss Gresh. It's the only show I'd pop in and listen to. There aren't many on the air who actually know a sport. Zo and Greash are two that do.

Yeah but it's too bad that that Gresh's knowledge of "a sport" is rendered useless for roughly 7 months come Monday. Gresh is fairly knowledgeable about football but his football knowledge gets buoyed by his utter lack of any knowledge of the other main sports.

A few callers on the postage referencing gresh and Gary being gone. Both got cut off.

Gresh called one guy a knob and laughed at the thought of him leaving the show. "Guess who is on tomorrow at 10am?!"

Feel bad for Gresh, I got more appreciative of him considering how many trolls are around him. He's a breath of fresh air compared to them.

At least he gets to go out on top, covering the Super Bowl champions.

Do you listen to him discuss any sport other than football?

I like both Gresh and Zo because they're not pretentious at all about the sports they know little about. For example, hockey. I certainly don't look to them for analysis, but they're enthusiastic fans and are fun to listen to before a big playoff game.

Well, the need to have a last day at some point, and these guys typically know when their last day is. He shouldn't do anything too crazy on the air, as it would hurt his prospects down the road....

When Gresh and Zo got canned in Providence, The Score didn't allow them a sendoff.  Either the station was not very gracious or the station worried one or both would be a loose cannon knowing they are lame ducks.  I can't see Gresh pulling a full Pete Sheppard though if he still wants viable work in this market.

He's still in Phoenix, so maybe when he gets back to Boston he's done.

That's my thought too. It seems like the entire crew is still in Phoenix so wait to they get back to make the switch.

Any chance Gresh takes over Tanguay's game day gig?

No they are both out from the Game Day gig. There will be an entirely new host and analyst on pre and post game next year.

I'm no Gresh fan, but how he's handled this situation is commendable.

I actually like Gresh to a degree, and agree with the above.  I think he's earned the right to have a "good bye" moment when his last day comes up, and I think management will give it to him.  He's been a class act so far regarding this change, and has avoided numerous opportunities to take shots at his bosses or ownership.  I'll miss G&Z during football season, and though I think they're ok with hockey, that duo is lost with basketball and baseball.

I think that his contract might have run out on Feb 1 but due to the Pats extended playoff run and winning the Super Bowl, the powers that be let him  complete the season. Football is Gresh's best sport obviously.   If the crews were going to be in Phoenix last week,  it made no sense to break up the continuity of two shows during Super Bowl Week.     In addition, with Zo broadcasting  the game last night, it created logistical issues today. He probably officially exits the show next Monday.

New Beetle/Zo show starts 2/17, so gresh may have a few more days. I was never sure of the exact date.

Is that strange timing to start a new show? Many people here proably follow it closer than I do, but don't a lot of these guys go away for February (school) vacations and the weeks are usually fill ins?

It seems like an ideal time to launch a new show.  It's just about the deadest time of year in sports.  NFL is done.  Spring Training is just starting.  NHL/NBA regular seasons are still a few weeks away from the "home stretch".  Still two+ weeks out from March Madness.

The dead time lets you put two guys together, let them settle in and develop a bit of chemistry and rhythm before things really heat up.

Makes sense. I just assumed that week would be Keefe/Flynn/Wallach etc

Could you elaborate as to what his behavior was that got him fired as I haven't heard anything about this before, I'd appreciate it.

Beetle and Zo is not a good mix IMO.

Beetle has little kids and at least one of Zo's kids is in HS, which limits travel due to sports. Also, I wonder if Beetle will be taking over game day duties as he's been doing the Patriots.com pre &
post for at least two seasons now.

They were joking the other day on F&M about Beetle maybe getting his own show one day in the future.
It's obvious they aren't supposed to say anything official yet.

The release coincided with Felger making the announcement on-air. Reading from the concocted "press release" and feigning total surprise.

Interesting in that article it says that Gresh will work with the Sports Hub in a variety of roles.

Reminiscent of Dale Arnold's boot from the old Dale & Holley mid-day show (or Mut for that matter).  I'd imagine that translates to "he's still under contract and we don't want to buy him out, so he'll fill in here and there".

I guess I'm fine with Gresh still making appearances etc. on TSH.  But for crying out loud, can they please ban Gary Tanguay all together?!

Tanguay looks to be done. He is not doing Patriots pre or post game anymore.
