IndeedGood for Kiermaier. Well-deserved.
Yeah. He's really, really good in the field. Had a bunch of spectacular plays this year....great catches and great throws....and very consistently gets good reads/jumps and makes many difficult plays look routine.Indeed
ESPN Insider Scott Spratt reacts: "This season, Kiermaier not only led all center fielders with his 42 Defensive Runs Saves, but he set the record for most DRS in a season by any player at any position since we at Baseball Info Solutions started tracking the stat in 2003."
OK, I'll ask. Is Kiermaier better than JBJ?Yeah. He's really, really good in the field. Had a bunch of spectacular plays this year....great catches and great throws....and very consistently gets good reads/jumps and makes many difficult plays look routine.
Kiermaier did it all season long, and did it very well. I'd say he's the real deal, along with JBJ's second half. Going forward I couldn't say, but for this year I'd say Kiermaier won it on merit, and it's a nice change after Adam Jones has been winning it with his offense.OK, I'll ask. Is Kiermaier better than JBJ?
All the stats say yes. In his first season as a full-time CF he had the best season on record as a CF by both DRS and UZR. I'm not necessarily the biggest believer in the accuracy of current defensive metrics, but when they all agree and you're at the extreme high end and that comports with the eye test, well, that's pretty good.OK, I'll ask. Is Kiermaier better than JBJ?
Boggles the mind. Does it only count once you have the ball in your glove?Yoenis Cespedes is a Gold Glove award winner. Wow.
I was thinking there must be some other Cespedes!Yoenis Cespedes is a Gold Glove award winner. Wow.
The entire NL infield didI just realized Brandon Crawford won a Gold Glove *and* a Silver Slugger. Not bad.
I hadn't seen all the Sluggers together when I posted. How common is it that players bag the pair? The entire NL infield did
