First Stipe Miocic bringing the UFC HW title to Cleveland, now LBJ and the cherry on top of hosting the Donald Trump Riots, God is finally smiling on Cleveland

Lol, how about "Sorry, I was wrong, you were right."

Let's go back to where we were: I said that they won 73 games because they're a soft finesse team that can't get it done in the playoffs and got lucky because Love and Irving were injured last year. You said they were historically great, that the Cavs were better with out Love and Irving because of their lousy defense, and OKC played phenomenal basketball. And if GS had a touch series against OKC but then steamrolled the Cavs, you'd probably be right. But almost getting eliminated by OKC and then losing to the Cavs shows that GS isn't historically great.
So they finessed their way past OKC? Really? How long have you watched the NBA?

I think the extra games against okc took a lot out of the Warriors too. They were gassed, and the Bogut injury changed the series. Regardless, greatest Finals performance ever.

I hate LeBron because watching sports is more fun with a villain, but he is undoubtedly the greatest athlete I have ever see. LeBron and Randy Moss.
Congrats to Cleveland and LeBron James. Storybook ending.

Now its Durant's turn to win a championship (in Boston) ;)

Right? I don't really get the mad rush here to shout down people calling it a choke from the Warriors.
Because calling it a "choke job" takes the credit from where it's due (i.e. the Cavaliers).

Choke narratives are bullshit because the other guys are trying to win, too.

LeBron at age 31: 3 rings, 4 MVPs.
Jordan at age 31: 3 rings, 3 MVPs.
So is this Cavs team primed for a dynasty? Understand there's not much competition in the East right now and Irving is going to get better. Also, veterans chasing rings will find their path to the Finals easiest with Cavs. OTOH, they really don't have much other than LJB and Kyrie.

If I were Durant and really wanted a title, I would definitely come East.

One more observation. The people saying that the Warriors choked cannot simultaneously claim that what LeBron did was so amazing - because the Warriors handed it to him rather than him taking it.

Either the Warriors were the better team and pissed the series away or LeBron led the Cavs to victory by playing spectacularly along with great contributions from Irving and Thompson. I tend to believe that the Cavs were the better team and LeBron has now made his claim for GOAT (I have always thought this). The guy is brilliant at basketball.

Something like a 32.5 pt/12.2 reb/8.8 ast average in 13 games vs GSW in the past 2 finals

So, the Yankees didn't choke in the 2004 ALCS?

If they lost in game 7 on a 9th inning home run and then Manny made a diving catch to end the game with a runner on 1st, it might be an apt comparison.
DBMH seems to be implying that no teams choke and that the better team always wins. Or at least I think he's saying that.

EDIT: What's the NBA's equivalent to the Yankee/Red Sox 04' ALCS?

Curry shot a 3 that didn't even hit rim with under 90 seconds to go. This was after the LeBron block and the game was tied. If that wasn't a choke, then what was it? If he was gassed, then why didn't the Warriors give the ball to the only guy on the team playing well on offense (Green was 11 for 15 from the field, 3 for 3 from the line, but he only attempted 5 field goals after Halftime and 1 was on a putback)?

Agreed on Draymond. Only took 15 shots and should have taken more. His 32/15/9 Game 7 line will be one of those great performances that gets forgotten by most because his team lost.

Why on earth were Ezeli and Varejao in the game for so long? So, so weird.

Refs called a surprising amount of contact the entire game, especially scrambling for position for rebounds.

What the absolute fuck was Steph thinking with those two God awful turnovers- flipping the ball out of bounds in last 5 minutes of Game 7 of the Finals?!?!

Also thought it was dumb how when the Cavs went slow down, iso ball, they didn't give Kyrie 1 possession (before the one he made) while Bron got like 6 straight. Dude has to be one of the best 3 or 4 perimeter iso guys in the league. I do agree with the strategy of slowing it down though, limiting possessions, both to get every one like a modicum of rest on offense and to give the other team less chances to score.

It will be but a footnote to history...but Irving made like 3 different boneheaded decision this game w.r.t the clock- the stupid pull up elbow jumper with like 12 seconds left on the clock at the end of the third quarter, and the drive at the end of the game (and 1 other I think I'm forgetting). The drive at the end created a dunk for Bron, but it seemed dangerous considering they could've run out even more of the clock.

Man I'm happy for JR Smith. That's a guy that finally got it and really bought it in to what his team was trying accomplish.

Edit: Seriously JR just gave one of the most poignant extended comments I've ever seen from any athlete, ever.

Are you serious? There is no sports equivalent.

History? Maybe Churchill taking Britain from wanting to surrender to ultimate victory. Bit really were the Nazis as bad as the Yankees? It in a way falls apart there.

Fiction: When John Connor taught us to smash those metal mother fuckers to junk,... but tarnished by the sequels.

So is GS going to woo Durant? They may need to get more physical and athletic.

They are a good team; they aren't even close to being an historically great team. They are built for the regular season, not the playoffs. And two series that went game 7 show that. If they were historically great they would have dropped 3 games for the entire playoffs.

Dude, just sack up and say you were wrong about GS. Stop doubling down.

I think this series showed curry, for one, isn't built for a tough, physical series. Everyone's saying he's hurt, but I think his frailty in a physical series was a bigger factor, and may have played a role in his possible lingering injury, too

Were the 2007 Pats a historically great team? Neither will go down as the greatest ever but come on.
