Thanks, I was wondering because I plan on pulling similar trickery to transfer my coins over to my account when I go home.

UT is weird this year, I'm working my way through D6 and the amount of thoroughly stacked teams is surprising, especially since mine still sucks. Thankfully most of them can't actually play.

The slowed down gameplay suits my style perfectly. I've never been the type to boot long balls and sprint them down, so I don't miss that at all. I had a really hard time consistently executing/timing headers in 13 and have found that to be much easier/better in 14.

Honestly, it just sounds like you prefer a more arcade style game. Obviously if you want a "pacey" game, 14 isn't gonna suit you. I thought the pace had gotten to be completely ridiculous - all you needed was a tiny bit of space or a decent angle and you could blow by most defenders with ease.

Definitely agree with this. And it's not like you can't still burn guys with through balls, you just have to move the ball effectively and be patient.

A bit of a learning curve for me on this compared to 12'. Everytime I'm on the break I get dispossessed. Been trying to break old habits on trying to lay off trying to get one-timers, but it's been tough. Patience on this one is key. Playing this thing on the PS4 and that new engine is great. The ball takes some weird bounces at times.

I absolutely love this game on the PS4.

Can't stand playing against people online as Real Madrid. Renaldo always ends up beating me.

I used to hate people that would just hoof it up to Ronaldo...but then as he proved during the Sweden game it actually works...

I picked this up for the XBox One, and me and my kid really enjoyed playing against each other. Problem is, this is my first FIFA game and I have never played a day of soccer in my life.  I am really enjoying the gameplay, but I have no idea what I am doing (whether in career mode or building a team).

Is there anywhere out there that provides a good synopsis of... well... soccer? Like what should I look for in a ST, or a MD? What does each formation work well as, and when should I shift from say Balanced to Aggressive?

Don't mess with a formation that doesn't start with 4. From there, figure out if you like using a lone striker, two strikers, or a striker with wingers. That basically boils down to whether you like to play centrally or attack from the wings. Don't worry about learning skill moves, but do learn the give and go (LB + A) and chipped through balls (LB + Y). Get good at moving the ball with short passes.

Have it for the PS4 and agree. Been trying for a week to take out Man City or Chelsea. I'm conceding goals in the 80-something minute constantly to both those squads. Silva, Hazard and Azpilicueta constantly give me nightmares during the match.

I got over my hangover yesterday (and this morning) but playing FUT Seasons.  Right now it seems like the biggest jump is between divisions 5 and 4.  I ran the table in 5 but have yet to win a game in 4, and have been promoted into 4 twice.

My FUT is basically Arsenal's starting 11 (with the exception of Ozil - too expensive) for Xbox 1.

I find that the majority of my goals come from crosses to Giroud (I also have Diego Costa as a sub) or when playing a lower level team, their CBs begin inexplicably dribbling the ball around in the back field. Seems that if you just run at them they cough up the ball and its a simple breakaway.

I really don't understand the economy of the transfer market. You'll have someone who's an 83 going for $1,500 with no one bidding and then someone at 85 worth x10 that amount.

Anyhow, does anyone have tips/preferences for formations?

In this game I've preferred 4-1-2-1-2.  You need to learn the lobbed through ball in FIFA 14.  It's applicable all over the field.  outside of that, if you're just starting, and I assume you are so I apologize if you're not, you really need to learn to let go of the sprint button and make give and go opportunities.  Scoring from crosses is very powerful in this game, but these are two more ways you can add to those tallies.

The value of a player is based on his stats, not his overall rating.  For example Iniesta I believe is an 88 or 87 and costs like 70k while Neymar, who is an 83, costs 300k (on PS4).  The reason is Neymar is faster, has 5 * skills AND weak foot.

On futhead.com whenever an inform player comes out, one of their posters does this thing he calls "True Rating" he basically creates a player with the same exact stats as the in form player and sees what their rating is.  For example, my IF Totti that I use as a CAM has a rating of 83, but his true rating is 91.

Check out that site, its very helpful.

My buddy and I rolled through D1 of Co-Op Seasons last night. It was nice to achieve online in that game without always using those overpowered headers despite the temptation to cross every possession. Belgium rocks online, many players who are just fantastic on the game. The defense is competent and Benteke/Lukaku/Hazard is a highly above-average front 3. Maybe it's time to start actively pursuing FUT.

If you still like playing an occasional game of FIFA 12, you better get your online games in sooner than later. Servers shut down on 2/24.

Relatively random bump, but has anyone really gotten into online seasons? (Non FUT) I'm up to div 5 as City but I'm not sure how much I'm going to keep playing, it's non stop Real Madrid, long balls to Bale or Ronaldo and they outmuscle everyone to score a goal.

I only find myself playing FUT in this version due to the weekly gold packs for the pre-order.. The game play still feels like ping pong to me. I end up playing 12 and 13 for online seasons.

Yeah, but on FUT i feel like I've built all the teams I'm capable of building. There are sets of players I have no hope of attaining (100k+ players) and pretty much everyone else I've gotten to use. My packs are so consistently useless it's almost unbelievable.

I suppose online seasons with FUT will at least have more variety than non FUT. Not enough people can afford Ronaldo and Bale, so at least I won't be constantly getting cheesed out by these people.

I agree with you 100% about the ping pong though. All the "real physics" seem to have created a situation where balls are constantly ricocheting off of people, trading possession since nobody can control a ball in one touch in close spaces.

If you want to avoid Real Madrid in Seasons, can't you just pick a lower-level team? I normally play with Sounders or Toronto FC or Dutch teams, or USMNT. I'd get bored senseless with the getting Real and Man City constantly. (edit- I'm still playing 13)

The whole star system needs a revamp that'll never happen

Yeah, but then I don't get to score goals as Aguero and live out my Man City dominates the world fantasies. I am very much a part of the problem, I just wish there were a bit more variety among the 5 star teams selected. 10 out of my last 20 matches were against Madrid. And I seem to get curb stomped by Chelsea, looking at the results.

You have to find a good 4.5 star team and set the matchmaking settings to restrictive, otherwise it's too frustrating.

And yeah, bayern, barca, real and some of the better international squads should have their own star rating.

Starting to REALLY hate the frequency of ridiculous penalties called against me when playing AI. Don't know if it's an issue when playing online because it feels like the AI NEVER gets called for a foul, let alone a penalty. Meanwhile, I consistently get called for the silliest, touchiest, diviest, bullshitiest penalties.

WTF is up with that? That's some bullshit right there. I've gotten pretty used to my sexy PS4 FIFA with almost no loading time (yay 10K RPM HDD). At least it's not DLC, if they pulled that bullshit I would've been furious.

Well, I'm glad I held out on buying a PS4. I'm skipping FIFA 14 and 15, getting World Cup instead. I'll probably play it until there's a PS4 price drop hoping Christmas 2015.

Those are some strange choices right there. I mean, World Cup is fun, but it's not nearly as deep as actual FIFA. Seems strange to completely skip two years of FIFA for World Cup. And PS4 is fantastic and well worth buying without a price drop (and it's no sure thing, $400 is very reasonable). Needs some games but that was always gonna be the case early on. Oh well, to each his own.

Yeah my circumstances are a bit weird. Until last month, I went 8 months without playing any video games (the horror!) so even though I had 13 when it came out, I hadn't played it as much as I wanted to. I also have a few other games to catch up on. Nothing in PS4 land interests me enough to go buy a whole new system.

After playing FIFAs 10-13, I need a change of pace. And FUT has too much futzing around, I just can't get into it. I really just like playing the games, so I prefer seasons and career modes; I figure World Cup will be more like that. I played World Cup 2010 when I visited my brother last year and really liked the atmosphere, and the weird teams and just playing games. And it's kind of silly to buy another FIFA (15) six months later. So basically I'll end up with FIFA 13 for a year and a half, and the World Cup for a year and a half.

As someone who hasn't bought a PS4 or XBONE yet, and hasn't played a FIFA game since the 2010 World Cup version, this is the greatest news I've read this week.  I do feel bad for people who bought a next-gen console and won't get to play this game on it, though.

Anyone who sold their PS3/360 should've known better, honestly, but it does suck. I don't mean to shit on World Cup by the way - I love it. I played the living shit out of World Cup 2010. My friend and I had a mission to legitimately (no retries) win a co-op cup on Legendary - with the USMNT. There were many heartbreaking losses but eventually we got it done. That game was also where I scored what remains to this day the best goal of my FIFA career. It was a completely obnoxious shot from just inside the center circle with Jonathan Spector of all people. I have absolutely no idea why I shot it and my friend started to complain about it while the shot was in the air, but it was fucking perfection. I did a lap around my apartment. God I wish the Share button existed on the PS3.

Anyone playing UT? Trying to build this team:

Only need Casillas and Ramos. Menez and Cavani might be my favorite value players ever. I got Menez back when he was going for 1,000 and he's been a stud, and Cavani is just stupid cheap. Highly recommend pairing them, you can do a lot with a French BPL/Ligue 1 hybrid.

Finally made it to D1 of seasons, and got immediately dumped back to 2. They've sucked me back in though, I'm juuuust good enough now that the satisfaction outweighs the rage caused by all the Eto'o/Sturridge and Mandzukic/Aubameyang teams.

Talking myself into spending $15 bucks worth of Best Buy rewards coupons on packs...

I'm doing UT too. I made it to D1 and played one season. I came within a game of winning it, but I ended up losing and haven't been able to bring myself to take another shot.

Nobody in the real world cares about my UT team, so I'm going to lay it out here since we're already talking about squads.  I went with a Spain and La Liga squad.  I run a 4-3-3 with a false nine, and I would highly recommend this formation.  The players get spaced out well on attack and it's easy to break down defenses.  Cesc is my nine, di Maria at RW and Pedro at LW. MF is Iniesta, Xavi and Busquets or Alonso.  On D I have Alves, Pique, Hummels (random, but cheap and awesome), and Jordi Alba. I have Courtois in goal.  Modric is on my bench and gets a lot of playing time. He's really good at playing off the false nine.

Yup same, needed a win in the 10th game and came up with a draw. Soul crushing. Have you tried Ramos or Casillas? I had a La Liga squad last year Casillas was untouchable. Wondering if he's better than Courtois (who I have now and who is solid) after they downgraded him from an 89. I remember hating Pique because of his pace, but Ramos never really impressed either. Right now I have Miranda instead and he's been solid enough but I feel like I need as much heading/pace from my CBs as possible. I guess my other option is Cole-Luiz-Cech.

I haven't had the chance to try Ramos and Casillas yet.  They are my next two realistic transfer targets.  Courtois is a big upgrade over the other guys I have used in the upper divisions (Valdes, De Gea and Lopez).  One of the things I really like about a La Liga/Spain squad is that there are always upgrades available.  Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar aren't realistic targets since I primarily try to build my team through earning coins in games, but they are at least possibilities.  A friend made a Serie A/Italian squad and basically maxed it out within a month.

Pique is solid for helping with the attack.  He has really good passing for a CB and is a lot cheaper than Ramos.  Pace hasn't been an issue for my defense and I think this is because my outside backs are so fast.  Alves or Alba are usually able to run down anybody that springs loose.  Heading is definitely an issue.  I am using Hummels because I had previously been using Mascherano and almost every goal I conceded was on a header.  You should check out Koscielny for your squad.  He has 78 pace and 81 heading, and he should be good for a BPL and Ligue 1 squad since he is French.

Koscielny is nice but his low strength makes him a liability against tanks like Balotelli. I used Kaboul and the wildly underrated Mangala ( http://www.futhead.com/14/players/6524/eliaquim-mangala/ ) for the PL/Ligue 1 squad.

Played a guy today who had Neymar, Ronaldo, Messi, TOTY Ramos, etc., and tied him. So satisfying.

I actually packed him right when he came out. Used him for a day or 2 and then sold him for a huge chunk of change.

He was obviously better than the 86 Suarez but the money people were bidding for him right when he got upgraded was just too much to ignore.

His newest inform is like a 91 I think. Must be insane (in both price and ability).

The demo was fairly unexceptional (I think you can download the fifa 14 one and compare), but if you have neither of them and aren't planning on going next-gen, it's probably worth it. Unless you want to play ultimate team, which I don't think is an option in the new one.
