Sounds like a 1st in '17, 2nd in '18, Zach RSanford, and maybe more - with some salary being retained by St. Louis.

Color me underwhelmed from a Blues' perspective

Caps don't have that 2018 2nd, curious to see what the deal is there. They traded that for Eller.

And yeah, that package seems light. Coyotes got more for Hanzal.

Full trade is:

Shattenkirk (39% retained) and Phoenix Copley to Washington for 2017 1st round pick, Zach Sanford, Brad Malone and conditional 2019 2nd. STL gets that 2019 2nd if the Caps reach the conference finals and Shattenkirk plays in 50% of their games. There is also a third conditional pick...if Washington trades Shattenkirk before 7/1, then STL gets a 7th. If Washington gets higher than a 4th for him then STL's pick would be 2 rounds lower than that pick. So if the Caps get a 3rd; STL gets a 5th.

My head hurts.

I was becoming concerned that Shattenkirk's reported refusal to sign extensions with trade partners on two other occasions had torpedoed the return they'd get for him even lower than this.

A first rounder, maybe another pick, and a warm body is a win if every team in play only viewed him as a rental with no chance of re-signing.

I think on 93.7 last night someone mentioned that the Bs were in on Ott. That would've made Jack's head explode.
