Jerry Tarkanian's son announced that Jerry has passed away.  Sad day in the college basketball world.
I was just looking for a thread on this.  Sad day indeed.  As far as teams from outside New England go, Tarkanian's Rebels were my favorite team to watch as a kid.  Not to mention the work he put in exposing the NCAA for the sham it is.

Gotta figure court stormings are soon approaching an end.  KSU was ugly last night, with students pushing KU players, KU coach putting a KSU kid in a headlock, etc.  Just a matter of time before someone snaps and the stormings are shut down.

Unless Kentucky overlooks their 8/9 game or something they're going to be unstoppable.  When they are motivated like today they just destroy the other team.

Yeah, they've pretty much achieved Globetrotters (Meadowlark/Curly/Geese era) & '92 Dream Team-level dominance.

I agree.

Edit - with Greg, not dog. They have had a lot of close games.

I'm praying to see my SFA binkie Brad Underwood take over at Texas next season. As much as I'll be sad Underwood clearly will take a bigtime job, might as well make it my second alma mater.

Hope Duke gets a shot at them. Even as a 2 in their region. Just would love to see that game.
I was thinking about this earlier today. I think Duke wins 2.5 games out of 10 against this D league team.

There is no way they win basically half the games. Kentucky is HUGE

Big loss by Gonzaga. Has to drop them off the first line. BYU likely in now too.

Big win for Arizona too. Definitey in contention for a one.

UK is obviously a lock for a one. UVA probably needs one more win. Duke probably locks a one up if they win their last two and win a game in the ACCT. Last one... up for grabs now.

Who is a D-League team, Kentucky?

You are giving way to much credit to that awful collection of primarily former mediocre college players in that league. UK has 4 lottery picks and another 4-6 low 1st/2nd rounders while a typical D-League team would have a 1st round flop, a couple 2nd round picks who couldn't stick and the rest being Undrafted FA.

Well there isn't a level between D league and NBA (unless you go international) and KY wouldn't beat the worst NBA team so I guess it was a failed analogy from the start.

Kentucky would lose 9 of 10 games at least against the worst d-league teams. And internationally, the best teams in Europe would destroy Kentucky by 20+ Pts 10 out of 10 times. UK is a dominant college team, but thats all they are. Give this UK team a 24-second clock and NBA 3-pt line and they MIGHT break 70 pts vs a d-league team. Or give a d-league team the college 3-pt line and they'd score 100 every game vs even UK.

This argument drives me crazy. Its college vs pros. Its a giant mismatch. Its a bigger gap between d-league and div 1 than d-1 and d-2.

Maybe 1-2 would be in the rotation. Zero would start. I'm thinking the poster was referring to an NBA team which I would agree.

Edit: nevermind I re-read his post he meant D-League which there are no words for.

I'd rather Gonzaga get a good two seed option than a shitty one seed option like they had last time they were a one seed.  Gonzaga drawing the West bracket as a 2 seed is much preferable to getting the midwest as a one seed

For the hell of it, I decided to look up the roster of the current worst D-League team, which is the Idaho Stampede. For starters, good luck to this band of immortals in matching up with Kentucky's size:

50 Jerrelle Benimon F 6-8 245 Towson State
12 Tre Bussey G 6-3 172 Georgia Southern
13 Ian Clark G 6-3 174 Belmont
17 Brandon Fields G 6-4 195 Nevada
4 Shane Gibson G 6-2 180 Sacred Heart
20 Lewis Jackson G 5-10 165 Purdue
24 Amadou Mbodji C 6-10 230 Jacksonville State  1
4 Quan Prowell F 6-9 250 Auburn
34 Jermaine Taylor G 6-5 205 Central Florida
21 Nick Wiggins G 6-6 191 Wichita State
15 Joel Wright F 6-7 225 Texas State
23 Ta'Quan Zimmerman G 6-2 200 British Columbia

Powerhouse!! Yes that is the same Nick Wiggins who is Andrews brother and a role player off the bench in his two years at Wichita State. He is a pro this year however ;)

I don't imagine it'll get much play, but I always find it cool when someone puts up video game numbers.  Tonight, Delaware State Senior center,  Kendall Gray, went off.  He had 33 points, 30 rebounds (yes, 30), 2 assists and 3 blocks in their win over Coppin State.  He was 12/13 from the field. About the only thing he didn't do well was shoot free throws, as he went 9/16 from the line.  ESPN has a daily rating statistic, that pretty much is only available per game, and his tonight was 77.15.  I can't remember ever seeing another person over 70 all year long.  Gray is the leading rebounder in the NCAA at 11.8/game.

Equally amazing is the fact that guy with the second highest rating, 61.4, was Amere May, who had 40 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.  May and Gray are teammates, so they did this damage in the same game.
