It's absurd to go for it.  I wasn't watching the coaches on the other channel at that point, but I would bet money that not a single one of them thought going for it was the right move.  Oregon has an injured QB at best, or a backup QB at worst, they have to go 85 yards when they haven't moved the ball at all lately, and then they have to get an onside kick, and then score again.  Why give them a potentially 30 yard headstart there?  No way.  You have to punt it and make them beat you.

As opposed to a 1 yard run and taking off half the clock or more?

By the way, there was a BLATANT hold on that last play.

You won't believe how many Oregon fans will blame this tomorrow on the uniforms that didn't incorporate the team colors

You can't assume they get the first down Johnmd.  Sure, it seemed like they would have given the way they were running the ball, but worst case scenario punting is better than worst case scenario by going for it.

And that's why you punt.  Ballgame.

Teams with 4 turnovers were 4-46 this year, I believe.  And I don't think that's teams with a 4-0 turnover deficit.  I think it's teams with at least four turnovers, but may have gotten some themselves.  I'll bet no team that lost 4-0 in the turnover battle won more than a game or two.

Edit:  That can't be right.  It must be 4-46 for 4-0 turnovers.  More than 50 teams had four turnovers in a game this season.

Couldn't have. This is historic. A dominating game across the board, save for the dropped balls.

I was going for OSU, but I feel bad for Mariota, his team let him down big time.

You really don't know anything about football if you think what we're watching is Mariotta's fault

But seriously, the playoff is awesome. I never watched college football before, but make it 16 teams and watch the carnage. And ratings.

Kind of a dick move there by urban, no? I mean not as bad as fostering a stable of hardened criminals but still kind of a dick move

Couldn't take a knee.  Oregon had two timeouts left, so the clock wouldn't have run out.  I did hear the coaches talking about that.  Didn't play Urban at all for going for it.

Oregon didn't use those timeouts when they could have though.
