I'm sure nobody mentioned it anywhere but that buzzer beater was 100% Subban's fault.  He abandoned his side of the ice to try to be a hero and almost ran into Pacioretty; in the meantime Johnson just skated right into the open space and buried the centering pass.

To think, about three years ago Syracuse/Tampa were heavily considering dealing Johnson because they weren't sure his abilities would fully transfer to the NHL.

Never underestimate the ability of the Caps to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I would normally wholeheartedly agree with you, having seen many a Caps collapse in the past myself, but this team seems to have different vibe than those teams - these guys have some spine & confidence that recent Ovi-led versions of the Caps have lacked.  It also has a goaltender who is absolutely standing on his head for once, and now they are showing signs of getting real contributions from the grinding 3rd and 4th lines, which takes pressure off of Ovi and his line mates.  Teams that go deep in the playoffs often seem to do so because of contributions from "unexpected" key players.

The combo of new (tougher) coach and some personnel changes (getting some bigger, harder nose players and dumping some "softer" players) has been a plus.  Watching the Caps block so many damn shots in these playoffs for instance has been a revelation - the Caps of a few years ago never did that with such enthusiasm and never seemed as "all in" as this bunch is.  They may lose game 5 in NY but I think they take this series and will be a tough match up for Tampa...

The Caps are definitely playing with a different vibe. And Holtby has been incredible. The Rangers simply cannot put the puck in the net, which is forcing them to choke when the chances are kind of easy and also forcing them to flutter weak shots right into Holtby's glove.

The Caps have upset everything that made the Rangers a stellar hockey team this year. That said, this series is a couple of bounces from being 3-1 in the favor of the Rangers. It's been that close. So the Caps better not pull a Penguins and take things for granted.

Because the Rangers won't be an easy out.

So it looks like to me it will be Tampa and Washington in the East and Chicago and Anaheim out west.

Way to go out on a limb, BSF. What are your thoughts on how the Wells Report will turn out?

I kid because I love.

Habs playing...inspired??

Thought I saw an egregious slash on the Habs defenseman just before the whistle. I would normally say Subban, but it was the right side and he's usually on the left.

At least the Bruins aren't the only team that Hotlby is shutting down. He's playing unbelievable right now.

That's actually a good call I think. No penalty but he definitely bumped him and prevented him from making the save.

I guess you could question if he was pushed in but I didn't think so.

Did they change the rules about the location of the contact? Ward wasn't in the crease. Suppose he still moved into Lundqvist. Tough call either way.
Yes the crease doesn't matter. You can't prevent him the opportunity to make the save. The only grey area is if the player gets pushed into the goalie, although you have to make every available effort to get out of the way.

They need to re-examine the rule in the offseason. But as it's written today I think it's a good call especially in real time speed.

This series has enlightened me how awful Yandle really is. I'm shocked how terrible he is.

That was a phenomenal drop pass by Stepan. Go Rangers.

He has played an abysmal series. Him and Boyle. The Rangers are playing with three hands tied behind their back right now.(st. louis, yandle, and boyle) And losing Zucc really hurt the Rangers on the offensive side.

Still, Game 6 coming up. Season looked over with 3 minutes left in the game.
