That's quite the daily double, tims4wins. And obviously I agree on the review: that's the basterdization of the rules I was talking about.

If you're going to not call someone down to let the play go forward (which I'm Ok with) then replay officials have to be willing to rule him down later if that's what the video indicates. And if you open the door to unreviewable calls, you can't be willfully ignorant of other blatently obvious infractions that were not called at the time.

Procedures for reviewing plays exist for a reason. When you change those procedures in isolation to try to deliver a "just" outcome, you are running a rigged game.

If they are admitting he was down why can't they just overturn result

Judgment call. Had the ACC determined that the replay official was involved in overturning a non-reviewable penalty, the ACC may have overturned the result or had them play one more untimed down. This would've been a procedural error.

The ACC Commissioner doesn't have the power to overturn game results. It would have to be voted on by the member schools, and I can think of several schools that would be perfectly happy to vote it down.

Don't have the weapons on offense to compete in a game like this right now. And the defense has been mentally checked out all day. Just missing basic reads all over the place.
