Draft Day game thread- storm the TD Garden like it's the Bastille

Seriously.

I had a beautiful afternoon of drinking by myself and I come home and see all this shit. Great synopsis on another thread-

Lucic deal= sad but good
McQuaid deal= wtf? Not what we needed to spend cap space on
Hamilton deal= they better have something else going on, because that's piss poor value

So can we keep all of the crying and bitching and reactionary game thread-y posts in here so that people can read the threads for news, not misspelled diatribes against the front office?

Edit: I'm not happy about these moves so far either, and this thread will sink down the board like a stone, but maybe we can wait until the draft is over before we rush to burn the franchise to the ground.

If I'm Arizona, I hold Sweeney over the coals. Sweeney should know that these trades with nothing else will cause significant problems for him moving forward. He could be one and done. Picking up a top 3 pick might save his bacon.
I will fight you too, although you scare me because goalies are mentally unhinged.

As pleasant as you were at the bash.

Is Hannafin that much better a prospect than Hamilton?  If the cost is all three first rounders to move up, they're basically trading Lucic and Hamilton for a backup goalie, prospect, and Hannafin.  That seems like a piss-poor utilization of resources.

That's where I'm at.

No chance the #3 costs 3 first rounders though, right? RIGHT?

Nope, I hate this. Douige has higher upside and floor. And Hanifin will probably be a great NHL player.

For Sweeney?  He will probably be happy giving up all three firsts, and Krug, and Pasta, and his daughter's favorite dog.

Hard to say he has a higher upside since Hanafin is a projected top 5 pick in a deep draft and has been compared to Doughty.
I'd argue they have similar upside with Hamilton obviously more likely to reach it and no question a higher floor.  Still Hanafin could end up a better pro than Douggie.

But he's a WARRIOR, who does WARRIOR things. He BLEEDS BLACK AND GOLD, and brings great TOUGHNESS and GRIT.

What is the O/U in Sweeney's press conference on the word "grit" and the phrase "tough to play against" when talking about the McQuaid signing? Total of 4.5?

The way this day is going, what are the chances that when I check my phone when I'm walking out of hockey town tonight at 9 that I don't want to throw it on to Rte 1? I'm praying that I'm pleasantly surprised.

Did anyone in the Bruins FO watch a single playoff game this year?  You know who is tough to play against?  Teams that can actually transition the puck up ice.  McQuaid may be tough in front of the net but that is only out of necessity since the puck lives in his end when he is on the ice.  McQuaid and Seids as a top 4 pairing for the next three years, let that sink in for a minute.

If I'm Rask I'm demanding a trade or raise at this point.

We should have had a bingo for the PC

grit
hard to play against
tough in the corner
Bruins hockey
sound defensively
tough decision
good core

Lucic and Hamilton are gone and almost no cap space has been cleared. The Bruins have clearly weakened next year's team quite a bit.

We have to be talking rebuild at this point, right?

Only Krejci, Bergeron and Rask have longer contractual commitments than McQuaid.
Who knows if that is still the case by say 10PM tonight.

I have to say, it is kinda neat to see the B's logo on the NHLN draft order crawl three times in a row.

I hope the Bruins can dump some salary to Arizona along with picks and some prospects since Zona needs to add salary.

You know, at this point - trade Tuukka, roll with Subban/Jones - and just stock up on young, great talent.

Dougie Hamilton is 22 and a near elite defenseman. He'd be perfect for the rebuilding Bruins. I wonder what it'd take to get him.

Is anyone else concerned that we're now about 15 min away from pick #3 being made - and it seems as if there's been no movement from the Bruins?

Do the Bruins pick 13-14-15 if Arizona is unreasonable? Who do they pick if they go all 3 in a row?

I'm not gonna lie, the idea of the Bruins standing up their calling 3 straight names is kinda funny.

Then I remember the McQuaid contract and want to kill myself.
