According to Jason McIntyre of TheBigLead.com, Mike Ditka is out and Matthew Hasselbeck is inat Sunday NFL Countdown. Hasselbeck joins the recently-retired Charles Woodson at the big desk. Woodson replaces Keyshawn Johnson.

McIntyre reports that Ditka isn’t leaving ESPN. Instead, he’ll have an “emeritus-type NFL role” at ESPN.

More changes are expected as soon as next year; there’s persistent chatter in industry circles that Chris Berman and Tom Jackson could be gone after 2016.

'Emeritus type role' is loosely translated as wacky grandpa cartoon character for promos and location shoots at his house so he doesn't have to travel. Basically, Abe Simpson, which is what he's been doing for years. He can go ahead and tape his canned responses right now and get it over with.

"I like this guy"
"I don't like this guy"
"You gotta be tough to make it in this league."
"You better be able to stop the run to make it in this league."
"Obama is the worst president we've ever had."
"See you at the dog track."

On the plus side, at least the studio crew won't have to deal with his constant barrage of farts anymore.

Only 15 years after either stopped trying whatsoever.
