Awesome! He's been raking so hopefully he gives an immediate shot in the arm.

The way he's hitting in Pawtucket made it hard to keep him down.

His defense, on the other hand....hope it doesn't burn them.

I can't see his defense being worse than some of the other "solutions" that have been floated. Kinsler? Bautista?
In the 8 defensive games he's played in AAA, he's made four errors (including one today). So for as great as he's been at the plate there, he's been as unimpressive in the field.

I know he's been bad defensively in AAA in an extremely sss. I just don't see any better choices that wouldn't decimate what's left of the farm. Marrero stabilized the 3b D but he's clearly not the answer. And Holt doesn't deliver as an everyday player.

Wish there was some magic developmental potion where every position player is ready both for D and O on the same day. I'm not sure he's even ready for the O, but he wasn't acting like it was a problem in AAA. I can see some DH in his immediate future. But hell yeah!

Wow. He'll be the youngest player in the majors by more than a year (Bellinger is barely 22).

Let's all promise not to be assholes if he doesn't light the world on fire immediately against Felix Hernandez.

I get how they like to ease a hyped call up in on a road trip, but why not just bring him for the LA series? He'll probably sit Mon after flying cross country as well as to "acclimate", so another game lost.

I hope that DD still goes and gets another bat. Devers should play against RHP to start.

Devers will hit at the bottom of the order to start. Farrell indicates platoon with Marrero, who has been exceptional vs lefties.

Dombrowski: As #RedSox kept discussing possible trades for third basemen, player-development staff kept saying Devers is ready. We'll see.

Dombrowski said trade options at the corner clearly haven't been great. Front office felt like they could get at least as much from the kid.
Pete Abraham‏Verified account @PeteAbe 14m14 minutes ago
Dombrowski acknowledged the move is rebated to the 3B market being limited and/or too pricey

You guys in the good seats in foul ball range beyond the net, pay attention. This kid's fouls will get you killed. Ya been warned.

I hope this means DDski wants to keep him, and not showcase him for a trade.
You don't call up your #1 prospect to "showcase" him for a trade. That's what you do with veterans coming back from injury or a slump. Teams in the market for a top prospect want him because he's still a prospect. There's value in a guy not yet being on a 40-man roster or having accrued service time.

Felix has actually been pretty good since coming back from the DL - 3.25 ERA, 1.194 WHIP in six games (36 innings). His last three games he gave up 0, 3, and 1 ER. He's not the terror he was even a few years ago, but he's no pushover.

Tony C hit 32 home runs as a 20-year-old ... after hitting 24 as a 19-year-old
Led the league.

But this is still nuts.

Ed: I mean nuts in the sense I am having trouble processing it. He's probably one of their best 25 players.
