This Caps/Rags game on NBCSN has been awesome to watch. Both backup goalies pitching impressive shutouts into OT with a ton of chances both ways.

I've been watching on and off, but do we know why both teams went with backup goalies coming out of the Xmas break?

Well Washington has the Bruins tomorrow night so I imagine they’re saving Hotlby for them to guarantee the win.

And Zibanejad rings the post as time expires in OT.

VGK won again, 3-2 in OT at LA. Amazing. They have the best record in the West and 2nd overall behind only Tampa.

They've been ridiculous at home, 15-2-1 which is 2nd only behind Tampa in the league. I wonder how much of their success is based on the visiting team enjoying the night before games at the casinos a little too much.

This is a stretch of an analogy, but Wysh moving to ESPN was like Bourdain moving to CNN. Same guy, same schtick, but better support staff and more access. I also like that he's doing more longform and less daily-rundown. His book was actually a really good read for me, given that I picked up hockey in adulthood and did not play as a kid. There is a lot of stuff on the ice that I wasn't seeing that I am now.
