The small part of me that waited anxiously for the day Ray Lewis accidentally indicted himself on air is disappointed.

I'm sad ESPN is slowly improving.

Seriously. Every time he opened his mouth, that possibility brought me to the edge of my seat. He got close too. I will miss him for that reason and that reason only.

I never/rarely watch any of these shows, but it strikes me that Ray Lewis might have been pretty good at it, at least in a debate show, style-over-substance kind of way. Maybe ESPN wants to stop hearing "but you hired a guy who was involved in a murder" every time they make some sort of ethical/moral decision?

Of a more practical concern, they've replaced two guys who have less than complimentary to the Patriots with a Brady favorite who has praised the team while at Fox

FANTASTIC NEWS!! One point that has not been mentioned yet is that tommorrow is earnings day for Disneys stock. The last quarter, on fantastic numbers, Disney crashed and burned, the reason given was ESPN. I think Disney is fervidly seeking to turn the ESPN problem around, and what better way to do that, by taking out the garbage.

I think that Disney is about to announce that it is creating new Disney character based entirely on Chris Carter's eyebrows. It will be the basis of a ride akin to Splash Mountain and the subject of numerous animated movies. It would be too disconcerting to have him actually continue as a sportscaster, so they are going to freeze him and put him on display at Epcot Future World. Ray Lewis will be on hand to provide an explanation of the science behind cryonics.

Oh well, Lewis tried his best, took a stab at it, I guess ESPN didn't think he could cut it, so they weren't willing to let him stick around any longer.

They suspected he would be good but he turned out to be an empty suit.

He might have killed it, in fact. But I guess we will never know what drives him.

Maybe they thought they were obstructing his career's upward mobility and for that there truly is no justice.

I wonder if Lewis's stint as motivational speaker to the Bills while supposedly covering their game on ESPN's dime had anything to do with him being cashiered.

I think Lewis accompliced quite a bit in his short time at ESPN, despite the obstruction his lack of experience ended up being.

Also, murder deer antler spray.

I couldn't stand Cris Carter - the ultimate condescending blowhard ex-jock who acted like only those who played in the league could have an opinion about football. Good riddance.

A friend of mine is a producer for a talk show on Fox. He briefly meets celebrities and sports figures often, and met Ray Lewis about six months ago. He said the guy was the most terrifying person he's ever been in front of, and had "an aura of murder" about him. "That man definitely burns people", were his words, which I believe were meant literally.

Maybe it required an extraordinary amount of personal courage simply to be the guy who pulled the plug on Ray Lewis being on TV.

I'm sure they fired him over the phone, or through his agent. And had the intern make the call. While they were on a trip out of the country.
