My god ESPN just sucks. I watch the entire BU game, and as they head to overtime throw the Harvard game up on my computer. The announcers tell me how Minnesota Duluth won in overtime, yet on their tv feed it's still in between the 3rd and OT...thanks a lot

Penn State crushes Union 10-3 to meet #1 seed Denver today. 10 goals 8 different players on 33 shots...and not one from their leading scorer. Ouch.

Penn State is the first team to score 10 or more goals in the NCAA tournament in 27 years.

Harvard beats AF 3-2 and heads to the final four.

Air Force gave them all they could handle, though.
Harvard didn't play great in either game this week -- I thought PC actually outplayed Harvard (39 shots to something like 24), but Merrick Madsen was outstanding in goal and Harvard won by the misleadingly lopsided 3-0 score. The regional final against Air Force was pretty well-balanced and Air Force arguably had more Grade A scoring chances than the Crimson, including a late flurry where Madsen threw his arm up to make a miracle stop with 3 seconds to go.

I still give the Crimson a shot in the Frozen Four though. I doubt many teams have two lines as strong as Harvard's top two, and Ryan Donato is starting to show some real star quality.

Anyone going? -- think I may be in Chicago Thursday...

Edit: Loved being back in Providence. Angelo's on the hill is exactly what an Italian restaurant looks like in heaven.

Well, I got most of the rest of the bracket wrong, but landed on my feet for the final prediction.

7pm tomorrow

Unless they are gassed from playing OT tonight, I think Norwich has this.

Too fast....
A couple guys from the Norwich squad play with us in the summer. Really happy for them - no idea how they didn't get a bye. They were clearly the #1 team in the country.

Seriously? You must be pretty damn good yourself.

The D3 bracket system is BS. Unless Norwich puts a campus Michigan they can't get the bye.

They played a pretty solid game to close it out last night. They are not my team, but I was glad to see them take out Trinity.

Harvard fortunate to be tied at 1-1 after the first, with Madsen being heroic. Moy scored a short-angle wrist shot for the third game in a row.

Atmosphere at United Center is just okay -- Norte Dame fans most prevalent. They should turn up the volume in the nightcap.

I know a bunch of Boston area fans (including legendary Harvard coach Bill Cleary) foiled by the weather and couldn't get flights here today.

Not accustomed to seeing a team as fast as Harvard, much less one with UMD size. #7 (Johnson?) can fly.

But Donato feels like he's getting close

Donatos skate broke. Had to skate width of the ice on one leg. 1-1 with 3 minutes left in 3rd

Congratulations to Jim Montgomery. U Maine should have signed him when they had the chance. He wanted to be in Orono, but, alas....

Congrats to him for the championship. Well deserved.

Just back from Chicago. Frozen Four is a fun event -- beyond the teams participating, there always seem to be a ton of college hockey fans from all over coming to the finals, with lots of folks wearing their home team's sweater (look, there's a Dartmouth, and a St. Cloud State and a Penn State and a Union...).

I'm a Harvard homer, and was rooting against Denver in the final, but I think the better team won all three games. That said, if the Denver/UMD game went like eight minutes longer, the Bulldogs may have caught them -- once the Denver defenseman left hurt they seemed a step behind on the back end.

The best part about being at the Frozen Four (unfortunately I wasn't this year) is that you don't have to listen to John Buccigross. He's just the absolute worst.

Danton Cole is the new head coach at Michigan State. Should be an improvement over the former CCHA commissioner Anastos.

I go to the Frozen Four every year, and maybe it was because I live in Chicago and didn't have to travel, but I was left pretty unimpressed with the attendance and how it was hosted by Chicago. Having these events in non-college hockey towns seems dumb as you are dependent on out of towners coming and staying, even if their team loses. Best atmosphere I've experienced in my 11 years was Minneapolis, hands down. Even though I am a UNH grad and have resigned myself to the fact that I will never be able to see them live at one of these things, I am certainly looking forward to next year!

Once Umile is out after next season, your prospects will hopefully brighten. He overstayed his welcome there by about 10 years.
