They've regained it.

Amazing save by Demko at the end of the period. Karmic justice, though, the turnover leading to the two-on-one should have been a penalty on NU.

Part of me wants to say NU has this, they're roundly outplaying BC, outshooting them 2-1, and forced them to take dumb penalties more than once. Part of me has seen this story before and know that Ruck has had a pretty rough night and that BC usually finds their way onto the winning side of tight games, and, well, NU does the opposite. We'll see. I'd really like to see NU not get called for opposing roughings when they get punched in the back of the head though.

I worry that NU will sit back too much trying to hold the lead and it will turn into a shooting gallery on Ruck.

And now a quick whistle. Demko doesn't need the help.
The whistle was legit, I think. Demko had it caught behind his back and appeared only to drop it around or right after the whistle.

(As a side note, calls on puck frozen/not frozen are insanely difficult to make, so I will seldom criticize them, no matter how bad they look from the seats.)

Yikes, scary PP for BC there, but NU eked out the kill.

#18 for BC may be the dirtiest player I've seen in HEA in years, at least for someone who can skate.
Exactly who I was referring to in my previous post. I'm pretty sure he popped his jersey at the NU bench after scoring early in the game as well.

BC player just had a great assist on Lincoln Griffin's goal for NU to go up 5 - 3. Yikes!

It's White, he now has two goals and an assist! :p

Ruck at a cool 75% on saves. He's getting hung to dry on a few but still.

NU could have had 8 goals pretty easily if Demko hadn't been sharp. He kept it from being a laugher.

Heart attack at Casa de Miércoles as well.

Most exhausting hockey game I've ever been to and certainly one for the history books.

One of the best hockey experiences I've had. On the Oak Grove platform now, last night of late night MBTA timed perfectly.
Hopefully someone did both games, because that's one crazy night of hockey. As a Friar alum I left after the first one (albeit roughly five hours after I got there). Awesome night for the sport.

Was there all the way through, what an insane night with some great great hockey. Just an absolutely unbelievable win for the Huskies. I'm on cloud 9. If NU wins tomorrow Punter's is going to be a shitshow.

4th line for the Huskies has been huge over the past few weeks but everything goes through the Stevens brothers and Aston-Reese. That line is a +60 this year.

Lowell managed to score an own goal minutes after one of their skaters blocked a Lowell goal. That's impressive.

2-12-2 on Dec 6th to Hockey East Champs. 22-13-5 heading into NCAA's. I'm speechless. Only the 2004 Sox compare to how I feel right now as a sports fan.
The 2004 Red Sox were a landmark moment for me in that they roped me into sports. As an NU senior, there is nothing sweeter than this. I managed to grab and hold the trophy at the bar tonight for a few minutes. Unbelievable experience. Fuck Cincinnati. This is forever.

What a graduation present, savor every moment of this. As an Alum who started following NU hockey in 1989, when they were DEFENDING Hockey East champs (saw them lose to Maine in the Semi's that year) the journey back has taken longer than I ever could have imagined.

Gotta try to figure out how to get to Cinci now......

I'm no expert on brackets, but is there a rule that says you can't play a team from your own league in the first round?
Otherwise, shouldn't #3 N Dakota be paired with #14 Minn-Duluth and #4 Providence vs. #13 NU?
I know North Dakota would prefer that. No one wants NU as a first round opponent.

Pairwise you are correct.

One of two bracket articles talks about this. When you have a league that sends 6 teams to the bracket of 16 it plays hell w/ the matchups. They PREFER to not have league games in first round but aren't precluded from doing so.
That projected bracket is a result of anticipated league avoidance.

2013 realignment seems to dividing the sport in half. Both Hockey East (6) and NCHC (4) got half their membership in. ECAC placed three teams. The Big Ten, WCHA, and Atlantic Hockey only got their automatic bids.
