Who said racist stuff?
I don’t think it’s racist

Jay Norvell said it’s poor form (paraphrasing) to interview with hat and sunglasses on
Classist maybe, not racist imho.

If you Google both of the Norvells RE: Floyd Mike is the racist one not Jay.

He said some pretty racist stuff the last week. I hope it was about that.
He's black as well. "Growing up, Jay Norvell heard the stories—about how his mother and father had to use segregated bathrooms and water fountains in certain parts of the country. About how some teachers wouldn’t educate his grandparents because they “weren’t worthy of learning.”

Norvell - it has some undertones that I was been told by a few friends I trust they consider hidden racism. IIrC Sanders called him out for it, which was what I was hoping the apology was for if that was a thing.
Wait, just so I’m clear here:
  1. “Racist undertones”
  2. Interpreted by a few unnamed “friends”
  3. “Considered hidden racism”
  4. An assumed call out for such, “if you recall correctly”
  5. All done by a black head coach (you did actually know that Norvell is black, right?)

Jay was Texas’ co-OC/WR coach in 2015. He was actually my favorite coach of that entire staff.

Maybe my circle of friends is more sensitive and takes classism stuff as racism (in retrospect that’s not too surprising honestly). I didn’t pay much attention this week to what was going on between the programs and trusted what they had texted in our daily group textung chain.

Likely could be a terminology difference I need to educate myself better about. And I have a blinding dislike for Deion Sanders so will do better in listening myself to his PCs than reading highlights.

I also didn’t watch the second half of last night’s game so missed all the other late hits/penalties.

I’ll do better and not post such stuff without my knowing the full background.

Should he not?
I’d be fine either way. There was a ton of chippy/dirty play from both teams last night. I saw several CU players take swings at guys after the whistle that went uncalled. But all of the discourse is only about CSU playing dirty and needing to apologize for stuff.

Should Deion apologize for Shadeur sticking his fingers in the eye of a CSU player too?
Yes he should. I also can’t believe that CSU committing more than 10 late hits, targeting, crack back blocks, and blindside hits is equivalent to poking in the eyes.

The sad part is CSU should have won had they showed any discipline with their emotions. Their dline dominated and CU never adjusted to the crossing routes.

That’s cool. For the record, I think Norvell was trying to draw a distinction between himself and Deion to remind people that it’s more about substance than flash. Probably wasn’t the smartest play but damned if it didn’t inspire his team to play out of their minds against a far more talented team.

Absolutely. I hope I can find a recording so I can watch the 2nd half comeback and OTs. CSU impressed me.

I thought Colorado was remarkably disciplined in the wake of the cheap shot on Travis Hunter, which was one of the dirtiest plays I’ve seen on a football field in recent years.

It was rich to hear Norvell complain about officiating after the game — when you deliberately injure one of the other team’s players, you forfeit any breaks you might otherwise have caught the rest of the way. Your team got flagged more than the other team because you played dirty, and it cost you the game. The person who made headlines during the week talking about old-fashioned values pointedly failed to demonstrate one of those values after the game: accountability.

They are loaded at the skill positions. They are meh in the front 7 and below average on the offensive line.
This.

Similar to USC last year but their skills players aren't as good as USC. Colorado will be a playoff contender in 1 - 2 years if Deion stays. Fab 5 levels of cultural buzz around that program now.

That’s the million dollar question, isn’t it?
When his sons leave after this season, what will Deion do?

I think the CSU coaches and players should apologize to their fans for blowing a winnable upset by being such undisciplined idiots on the field.

There was some justice seeing Brennan miss an open field tackle inside the ten on that Buffs TD with a few secs left in regulation.

Where will he go? I can see him going to Florida State since he played there, I don't see him going to the NFL with his biggest advantage is him personal appeal and recruiting. An SEC school could throw a bunch of money at him but I'm sure Colorado's new cashflow could support getting him a substantial raise.

Like Chris Rock. Not saying he was right to cheapshot that guy, but I understand.

This will be unpopular but Deion's antics invite the type of cheapshots directed at his team. This does not condone what was one. One of my well rehearsed speeches as a coach is the last resort of a loser is violence. But social media was full of praise for Travis Hunter taunting the CS players in pregame. He mocked them sarcastically as "big and bad." I actually tried to find a place to bet he would be victim of a personal foul. Just like Joey Batts got payback for his epic bat flip, if imaginary line of sportsmanship is crossed some guys will feel it is not a right , but a duty to try to injure the perpetrator. A smaller school like CS has nothing to lose, and they played above their head, but in a way they didn't care about suspensions either. Coach Prime motivated himself and now his team by turning minor slights into personal battles of pride. He must be the worst to be on the receiving end of his attacks in the media especially the with the sycophants in the media lining up behind hium.

Not sure why you think that would be unpopular. I think we all understand why Colorado and Hunter/Shadeur in particular have a target on their backs.

They were one of the dirtiest teams I have seen in a while. The hit on Hunter should be cause for a suspension.

I don't really know Norvell, but is this indicative of the type of team he runs?
