I agree he does it on D but there are a ton of guys that do it on both sides of the ball.. I just don’t think he’s close to top five but then again I’m currently having trouble thinking of a ton more currently in the league so maybe I’m wrong.. the one thing I’d say is that Marcus doesn’t play nearly the amount of time others do.. so maybe on a flip per minute he’s the worst.. vs number of flops.
Yeah, not to beat this horse to death, but his flops prior to this year were really egregious: check it out on YouTube. He was notable in a league of floppers for being a big-time flopper.

I still love the man.

The Love injury is the best thing that could have happened for Cleveland. I think they win fairly easily.
Love scored 53 points in 3 games in Boston this series. Other than LeBron, only Hill (61) and Korver (57) have scored more in the entire SERIES, let alone in Boston (those two combined for just 38 points in 3 games in Boston). Love's replacement, Green, has scored just 20 points in 3 games in Boston.

Cleveland might very well win, and replacing him with someone else improves their defense slightly. But make no mistake, this is a huge hit to their offense and a definite net loss.

Have you seen the numbers when Love is off the court in this series?

The big thing with Love is it takes him off Horford, who was killing him. James , Green and Nance did a much better job defensively on Horford.

Honest question - at what point when you’re typing have you thought anyone actually wants to hear your doomsday scenarios you pulled out of your ass? Go to the game thread if you want to spout nonsense. This is a Celtics thread.

I have. I don't remember the exact figures, but the only reason Cleveland was positive when he was off was because of game 6 - when Love went out Cleveland was down 4, and the ended up winning by 10. On/off numbers are super susceptible to SSS, and that's it. He's the only Cav to consistently show up in Boston (other than LeBron), and he's been the Cav's second best player by any conceivable measurement this year, by a lot. It's one game and anything can happen but this is a huge hit to their offense.

Up 4 at the half but I don't feel good about this game. I'd much prefer the defensive holes that Love presents than the Cavs defense we've seen in the first half. I'm holding my breath on this one.

Hopefully he can get his head together on the bench and make a positive contribution in the fourth.

Cleveland’s starters have played 160 of 180 minutes thus far. I think that’s basically the Celtics’ one chance to pull this out. Wear them down.

The Celtics, though, played the third like they had nothing left in the tank and no confidence in their own game. That won’t do it.

Yep, this loss is on the players. Tons of open looks and they couldn't hit. I would say it was youth but really everyone on the team seemed to be tight as fuck.

The outcome of this game was basically obvious when the Celtics, as is their habit, took a quarter off.

This was an old, mostly toothless Cleveland team that a sustained, wire to wire effort in either game 6 or game 7 would have beaten.

But this Celtics team, in the end, didn’t have the mental toughness to do that.

I suppose that’s not a horrible thing. No one expected this team, minus Hayward and Irving, to still be alive with a shot at the finals late into the 4th quarter in game 7.

But it is still frustrating when, short handed as they were, they had the talent to fucking win this series and they didn’t.

This was way more “Boston loses” than “Cleveland wins”.

I mean he had two guys who could hit shots. Which one of his choke artists he decided to put in didn’t matter.
An NBA coach is only as good as his players but what Rozier did down the stretch was more about forcing bad shots which is the same poor decision making he showed the entire game. Hated seeing him return to the game. Felt it was biggest decision of game bringing him back in.

He didn’t come in for Smart, though. And the Celtics didn’t have 5 guys they could trust. Horford, Tatum, and Smart are only 3. Hard to win on that situation, but they gave the game away in the third.

Oh well. Another clutch LeBron performance pulling victory out of thin air. I guess this is how Patriots' opponents must feel about Tom Brady.

Awkward interview of Ty Lue by Doris Burke: "Given the circumstances, some might say this was LeBron's greatest achievement ... what do you think?"

Translation: "That whole team of guys standing behind you celebrating totally sucks. It's a miracle that you pulled this off."

I think it’s easy to over-moralize the loss, and there plenty of nits to pick, I think it came down to the fact that the Celtics just didn’t have the offensive skill to consistently make the shots.

Vastly exceeded all reasonable expectations. A Finals visit would have been nice. For the experience. Because unless a bus crashes or a plane goes down, they are not taking 4 of 7 from the Warriors or the Rockets. “You never know ...” — stop .. we know ...

A finals appearance, even in being swept, would have represented a changing of the guard in the EC, and would have given us first crack at it. We blew it

Oh wtf. The Celtics could not score. The subbing in of Rozier for Brown made no sense difference to the outcome of this game.
Subbing out Brown after he missed his umpteenth wide open look and generally seemed too keyed up the entire game was not unwise.

Really missed Kyrie. People were hesitating about what they should do and it cost them. They played their hearts out but as good as JT has been, they didn't have a guy like LBJ, Harden, KD, Curry, etc.

We blew it, but let’s not pretend there was some set back about ‘changing of the guard’. That’s nonsense. Bron is gone and even if he stays, we just took him to 7 without our two best players.

The guard has finished his shift. We’re on the clock now.

Pierce on now again showing that he is the motherfucking Truth. Jesus people some young players made mistakes in a huge game, get a grip.

That being said I'm looking forward to the Lebronaires getting swept by the Warriors

Didn’t have the skill to make open jumpers?

Since 1984, every NBA championship team has had at least one player who was a teammate of Shaq. The Cavs are the last remaining team to have one of Shaq’s teammates on their roster. I guess it was meant to be? Go Warriors/Rockets!
