I'm very happy with getting Hamhuis if the return isn't a ton. He's the one D man who was known to be available that I would take.

Yikes that is a steep price for Russell, I don't know why Dallas has seemed so keen on moving Jokipakka. Pollock isn't a bad prospect either, if they get the 2nd (guessing if Dallas makes the WCF or something) that's an A+ for Burke.

It's a bit head scratching to me that Hamhuis would waive for the B's, but what do I know.
Dan Murphy agrees

Oh it's even worse

“@FriedgeHNIC: If DAL makes conference Final, that second becomes a first. Burke will next appear on-air in a Stars jersey.”

If that's his only option, you have to wonder why? He comes here for half a season and can always go back to Vancouver if he wants.

Thought for the moment considering I expect this day to be mind-numbingly frustrating...

How many times did the phrase "well, you traded a 3rd rounder for Rinaldo" come up? a dozen? Two dozen?

I will now light myself on fire.

Minny, Anaheim and St. Louis still pretty quiet. Have to figure one of them will make a move.
Problem is ANH is hotter than any team right now. Might stay put just to maintain that momentum. Crazy they went from a sure seller to not even needing to buy in two months.

Sweeney is really going to keep Loui, isn't he?
It looks like it. I don't blame him, unless he gets the deal he wants. I'm not telling Bergeron, Marchand, Krejci, Chara and Rask that the front office is giving up on them this year when they're in a playoff spot for a couple 2nd's and an okay prospect.

I mean - just based on this summer we know he's not afraid to pull the trigger on a deal if it presents itself. I wonder what the hold up is.
Lack of a return in the market? I don't know that for sure, but seems that way.

Between here and everywhere.
I guess. I don't know if Sweeney is asking for too much, or if teams are offering too little - but the Ladd deal would have seemed to set reasonable expectations for both sides.

I suppose the question he's asking himself is if something is better than nothing even if the something isn't everything.

They just got blown the fuck out by the team they are likely to face in the 1st round. In every single (EVERY FUCKING SINGLE) game they have played this year, they have gotten their asses handed to them by solid playoff teams, and when the pressure is on, they throw up all over themselves. The reason they are even in the playoff picture is because everybody else from 6 down also sucks.

Sweeney is going to have to come out and say the best offer he got if he does nothing. Either pick up a defenseman so your veterans feel like they have a fucking chance, or trade Loui. Don't stay in between. In between blows.

Everyone is worried about the cap going down next year don't want to give up 1st rounders and top prospects for rentals.

If they can shore up defense and keep Loui to make a run, I'm content with that if the market just wasn't there for Loui.

“@DarrenDreger: Bruins still listening to offers on Loui Eriksson. 14 team no trade list. Hasn’t been asked to waive yet, so assume working with yes list.”
