The collapse was awful timing, but each and every game matters as much as the next. If they won one of the first three games of the year they would be in too.
They can't win every game and they played those games with a completely different roster than today. This team is the problem.

Colin Miller has been their best defenseman this week.
But the 9th defenseman in the system. Just think of that.

This team may pull another BERGERON! BERGERON! game out of their asses, but the problem I see is this team couldn't hold that team's jock with gloves and tongs.

So they shitcanned Chiarelli last year because the team missed the playoffs and hired Don Sweeney to make the team....tougher, I guess? And instead in a must-win situation we get this.

They fired Chiarelli because of his awful cap management and shitty trades. Next guy they should be looking at is Neely. The dumbest guy in the room having the most power is never a good thing. They need a complete rebuild with new management.

Haven't we talked about how Neely's real close to Charlie Jacobs? If that's the case, you might have better luck waiting for the team to be sold than Neely being torn off the top of the organization by the Jacobs family.

Sweeney is the last guy I blame for this. The cap was fubar and they did what they could to dig out of it. That the team was still competitive is a mild surprise but I guess that just speaks to how good Bergeron and Marchand have been.

This season was always about a transition but they didn't get enough of that accomplished to leave me feeling better about next season

Two points:
-Adam McQuaid signs 4 yr./$11M extension
-Bruins acquire F Zac Rinaldo from Philadelphia for 3rd round pick in 2017 NHL Entry Draft

Sweeney might not be the biggest culprit, but he definitely prioritized low-talent, high-grit players. He has some of his DNA on this crime scene.

Spooner kicked off the Krejci line, Pastrnak up. So far it looks like:

Marchand-Bergeron-Stempniak
Eriksson-Krejci-Pastrnak
Vatrano-Spooner-Beleskey
Acciari-Talbot-Ferraro

Clode seems like a defense-first coach, so it was always going to be especially tough for him having a cruddy group of defensemen. Every coach would struggle with that, but especially a defensive-oriented coach who first needs his team to be solid defensively and goes from there.

Unfortunately, the Bruins are probably going to have a lousy group of defensemen next year too. Clode would be better off going to a team with a decent defensive core, and that's probably going to happen. I don't see who the Bruins can bring in as a coach who can improve on things though. Maybe a coach with an aggressive, attack-minded philosophy might be a better fit for the roster? There's only so much any coach can do though.

Julien has done a terrific job here and deserves much better than his team choking and wetting themselves in a season-defining must-win game. He will land on his feet though. Not sure the Bruins will.

I said last person, not that he has no blame :p

McQuaid I at least understand. They were so thin on D and falsely hoped he could be a steadying vet presence.

I will never understand the Rinaldo move.

Either way, they seem to have drafted well and while trading Lucic was a difficult move it was probably the right thing to do and it was executed well. Which is good because they are probably facing similar situations with several other high priced players on the roster right now. I'd have traded Loui and that seems like it will have been a bad gamble in hindsight but the players he brought in did help the team a bit. I guess I'm saying I thought he'd be a disaster and he's been more of a mixed bag. Damning with faint praise I know

Bruins are on a 14-1 shot tear, but you can feel the Hamburgle in the air.

Okay, power play. You don't like me and I don't like you. But let's get through this thing and then I can continue killing you with beer.

...and passed on Kyle Connor thrice in the draft. Time will tell, admittedly, but this is a bad look right now

That's why I don't get pulling the goalie on the Power Play, because they can just do that.

What a shitastic fucking season.

I actually agree with this, think they should have played out the pp. and if it was the right call at 4-1 why isn't it the right call at 5-1?

For a team that's supposedly tough to play against, there's been nowhere near enough of that for the past two seasons.

The Miller fight.

Looking forward to another season of splitting the difference instead of rebuilding, with a front office working at cross purposes against itself.

Brick's gonna knock Jack out.

scoring 1 goal in a must win against a bad defensive team is disgusting. feel bad that Clode has gotta go but he has gotta go. and perhaps shaking up the core of this team has to be done too.
