I do wonder if the solution is that players sign contracts for X number of years. Like they can negotiate them with the schools as they’re being recruited. So like you sign Jack Smith to a 2-year contract worth X amount of NIL money. He can leave only to go pro but he can’t leave for another school unless the school releases him. Of course the school is obligated to keep him for the length of the contract too and can’t just kick a guy to the curb and not pay him either.
Seems like that could be the direction we are headed. It really sucks.

The Maliq Brown transfer really hits me in the gut. Loved watching him play. He got like 35-38 minutes a game. He’d be the star of next year’s team. So playing time isn’t an issue. The team won more this season than it had in many many years. They play in front of huge crowds.

So why is he transferring?

More NIL money elsewhere? Who knows. It just sucks. It’s not like he’s a guy stapled to the bench. Dude plays basically the most minutes on the team. He’s in a big time conference.

Ugh I hate this.

They seem to have found enough money to pay football players given their influx of talent. It would be a surprise to me if there aren't enough deep pockets to take care of basketball players, considering it's Syracuse's flagship sport.

I just heard that Maliq Brown did. Ugh
Trying to be the at least there is something in the glass guy, I now have a rooting interest for additional teams that I would not have even paid attention to previously. I loved watching JGIII at Clemson try to get to the FF. I even enjoyed watching Kadary Richmond at the Hall. Brown and Copeland are by far my favorite. As long as they don't go to Duke or Georgetown, I will root for them too.
