Red Sox announced that "select single game tickets" go on sale Saturday. That USUALLY means early season, spring games. But does that include opening day? Planning a trip up for that one.

It hasn’t in the past. They’ll wait and sell OD and Patriots Day after the new year.

Has anyone found an on-line schedule that indicates starting times? (Looking for April day game.)

Times are now listed on the Red Sox site under both 2019 schedule and downloadable schedule.

There will be a Sox Pax with opening day in it (at least there was last time). That will be on sale in this release. You have to buy 3 shitty games to get opening day but it does get you opening day

There will most likely be a lottery for OD as well as Yankee games like they've done in the past. Those are usually announced at the beginning of February.

Is there not a scheduled fanfest at Fenway or does the Mohegan Sun event replace that?

No Christmas at Fenway this year. I think it's an independent decision, though, as they've had the Winter Weekend at Foxwoods for several years now.

What I want to know is

... am I just oblivious to the appeal of the scratchy photo image here?

No Christmas at Fenway. Wally the Green Grinch stole it.

But - while they say "we're concentrating on Winter Weekend" -- they've had BOTH in the past. This probably had more to do with the staff being stretched out, between the deep playoff run, and the ticket refunds, etc. -- and also the Sox held three events in November = Harvard-Yale, a day (maybe two) of high school football, and Irish hurling.

So, C@F was an apparent casualty.

Problem is as someone said above, if you want OD tix, unless you have plan A, C, or S, you have to buy tickets for three other games to get them this Saturday.

OD, likely Yankees and Dodgers games will be by drawing later on in the winter.

    Winter Weekend - sold out

Actually, it sold out, reportedly in four days. So if you got the notice and decided to dilly-dally, you have been shut out.
Over on Facebook there is a discussion board (I'm in it) but I advised "ya snooze, ya lose." I received the e-mail on November 8 at around noon for the STH package; a couple hours later, the announcement was made for the public offering.

Like Opening Day or the World Series, if you really want to go, if there's a chance to buy the tickets - YOU BUY THEM. You don't sit around and think "gee I'll wait. But we are going."

I bought my tickets (STH option) and also IMMEDIATELY booked a room off-site.

In fairness, though, I think last year was the first time there was a real scramble for Winter Weekend tickets. The first year or two they were selling extra day passes (i.e. extra autograph/photo ops) at check-in.

Last year was the first time I went to WW. And, because I won four tickets on season ticket appreciation day. I gave back two ... (probably could have given them to someone, but...) and enjoyed the weekend - so much - that we planned to go this year. STH price $65, but because of the demand, hotel prices SOARED. I paid (I think) $165 for Friday night and it included breakfast (Hilton, down the street) and rooms at Foxwoods were something like $265.

This year I paid more - over 200 - with no breakfast and if you want a room at Foxwoods for this, right now, they're going for $900 a night. That may come down as we get closer to the event but if you're going and haven't booked a room yet, you're probably going to be staying a 20-30 minute drive away (unless you have all the bucks).

In the same vein as OD tickets. I am taking my family to Fenway for the first time this year (we live in CA). I've been about 10 times in my life but none since the early 90's so I'm wondering if folks can tell me what sections to try and get tickets in? There will be 4 of us and I'm willing to spend up to $500. Any ideas from the experts?

Nah, although I think they are 3-for-4 on significant snow that weekend. I just like to treat it as a getaway and not think about driving late in the day. The first year it felt like there were players wandering everywhere Friday night, which was a blast, but not so much since.

I like the LF grandstands (like sections 31/32)--you have great sight lines and a much better seat orientation than RF (and much closer to everything because of the short foul line, etc.) Just check the seating tool pinned in the ticket swap forum to make sure you're not behind a pole.

Added bonus, you're really close to the monster, obviously, and at least one of those is a family section if you're worried about an out of line fan. I've had good luck in past years getting these for below face for non-premier games a few weeks out during the season.

If you don’t mind the Family section, (no alcohol) try GSTD 32 or 33. Right next to the monster.

Even within the "good" and "bad" sections, there are some seats that are much better than others. Use http://www.preciseseating.com/fenwaypark.php to look at the exact seats that are on offer to see any impact with poles, walking traffic, or sightlines.

In and out in 2-3 minutes. Wasn't interested in any of the paks, but had full choice of tix for the 2 games I was looking for.

That was a fake VWR to give people the false sense that there's demand this year.

I ended up buying 4 OD packs for myself and my buddy. I'll probably try to come back for the Friday game and sell the two weekdays for pennies on the dollar. But worth it, havent been to an opening day since I was a kid

Picked up two OD packs in the bleachers - section 42 row 39 - not what I'm used to but I'm in.

The other three games - not all that bad. Not good for "I want to take Little Johnnie to a game" - they're night games but there will be face value takers. Since they're tied to my STH account I can toss them onto StubHub for what it's worth. I think one of the three others is a Friday night.

Two other single games = Patriots Day and the last day of the year vs Baltimore. If I get into Boston in the next week I'll pick up the latter at the box office, fee free *if it's open*. and Pats' Day, I'll wait for the Winter Weekend on-sale.

As an empty-nester, flex time employee (and - I likely will be retiring shortly, anyway) attending a weeknight game in early September is an absolute delight for my wife and me. In fact, we'll probably do MORE games this year.

Don't be surprised where everyone will try to do the same thing, and create excess supply, such that you will have a difficult time doing so.

A few hints about navigating through the VWR -

    - I started clicking in to it at 9:30 or so. At that time, you got right through and it told me "that's not on sale yet".. but at 9:40 or so it had me waiting. At 10:00 the screen popped open and I bought what I wanted. All done at 10:03.

    - if you do get in and see what you want - and it's a high demand thing - BUY THE TICKETS -- don't go in, out, in, out - others will buy up what you don't. "Oh, I went in, and called my brother, and had the tickets in my cart, but, he said 'wait a minute, I have to see if little Jenny has a dance recital that day, uhn, let me check' "... and the timer expires, tickets released, and you go back in to get them and they're gone.

    - have your credit card on file - you don't want to have the tickets in your "cart" and then lose them while you're fumbling around entering a credit card number , etc., and the time limit expires.

    - the preciseseating.com page now requires registration. If you're not sure about the quality of the seats you're buying - have that page open. Most infield grandstand seats that are in the public sale pool, sold in quantities more than one - have some type of a pole issue. And take note that the Red Sox' definition of what "obstructed view" is , is far different from what most consumers would define it as.

    - finally once you've obtained what you want - GET OUT OF THE SYSTEM. Your being in the purchasing area and not purchasing is locking out others.

Oh yeah, but still there's demand this year. Or, I can use those and list my STH seats. And if I eat a tier 5 pair of bleacher tickets it's not a big deal.

STHs usually receive their ticket packages in mid-March.

This morning's tickets are due to be shipped in January.

I don't know how they will play out Winter Weekend, at the ticket marketplace down there. Anyone know?

Winter Weekend attendees get to buy advance June/July/August tickets--it's usually the Saturday before the regular Saturday onsale of those tickets. Pretty sure there was no overlap with any expected March-sale lottery games (OD/NYY).

I'm counting on Patriots Day (single game) being in the WW mix. We are going for WW, attending Friday night and Saturday. Gonna be fun.

We also usually go the last Sunday of the season, those tickets are up now, but if the box office is open and I get by there, I will buy in (no fees for over-the counter),

This is one of the sad things about the Wally the Grinch Stole Christmas at Fenway Caper -- to get my opening day pack, I had to pay $30-40 in fees... ouch... and we missed a pretty good social event, too. Although I didn't have to get in the car at 6:30 and drive over there to get in line...

I was a little surprised they didn't have any lower bleacher tickets for the Opening Day or Patriots Day packs. Those are the best value in the park, IMO. Didn't feel like committing to 4 games in bad seats or spending a fortune, so I switched over to individual games.

I mmanaged to snag some front row seats in the lower area by the triangle for weekend games against the Astros and Rays though, so pretty good overall

WW has the games that are in the last general on-sale, which would exclude OD, Yanks, Dodgers.

I guess if any Sox Pax are left, and there may be, you'd get those tickets there. I doubt OD pax will come up.

I am assuming Pats Day will be released for public sale at WW and in the on-sale -- there are three pre-sales that I know happen - Winter Weekend, STH have a pre-sale, RSN members (remember that project? It's still going) also. There is also some type of a MasterCard sale as well, I think, not sure.

Still single game "lottery draw" games , if history holds true to form, will come up in Feb/March - ensure you have your redsox.com e-mail set up to NOT go to your SPAM bucket.
