Just looking to general advice, pitfalls, complications, etc. The reason behind wanting ACH is so payments can go directly to users' accounts, cash-in-hand. Thanks.
I've fiddled with it a little for various projects, but it's always scared me off because (AFAIK) you have pretty much unlimited liability if something goes wrong here with direct ACH stuff. Other than that, good luck.

My company makes most business payments this way. One you set up the vendor it's more convenient. Also more secure than checks (the bank adds additional password for ACH transactions like with wires). Also lower transaction costs. My company has branches in Uk and awe got comfortable with payments via ACH because that's the most common method there.
I used to have an account with Checkfree (now Fiserv) through which a consulting firm I was subbing for paid me, direct to my business account. I'm not sure they do business direct any more or if you simply go through a bank which offers the service. This is a pretty common practice for people who handle a lot of payment transactions, even if they handle only a few. Lots of convenience and the risk has been mitigated fairly well.
