Good pitching always beats good hitting. We have been let down by a key starter and some holes in the bullpen exploited. Losing Wright hurts. Our bats are struggling, Mookie kept in check. More than a few issues. Sandy León needs to sit as well.

That doesn’t really make any sense without context. ‘Good pitching’ can still involve conceding runs. If your offense scores less than that you lose so it’s never as simple as saying ‘good pitching always beats good hitting’

A higher number of runs scored ALWAYS beats a lower number, that’s for damned sure

    This.

Since the first inning of game 1, they've been outscored 10-4.

If the offense doesn't wake the fuck up, it matters not what the pitchers do.

It might help a little if Cora plays Holt and Devers, two better offensive options than Kinsler and Nunez.

Plus... Betts needs to be better than he’s been. Significantly.

I didn't watch after I saw Price pitching, but I would like to echo the call for HOLT in the lineup, unless so much time has passed that his hot hand has cooled.

No way of knowing if his hot hand has cooled. Just have to put him out there. Kinsler had an RBI double which I didn’t see, having turned it off when Sanchez hit one half way to NH.

Let’s see, what channel for Pats game. Oh, Doh!

The toilet is a LHH dream come true. They need to get as many lefties as possible into the lineup tomorrow.

Which is why Brian Johnson should have been added to the roster and not Hembree.

Hembree was actually tougher on lefties this season than Johnson was.

Who ever thought that we'd be clamoring for Brock Holt! to save our season?

Agreed; Mookie needs to be better.

    They all do.

I was thinking the same thing, he's gotten murdered in a number of game threads, now he's going to be the answer?

    We'll see what Cora does.

That’s right. And the modern statistics say that more offense trumps less defense, well, within limits. Devers definitely wins the WAR over Nunez.

    http://sonsofsamhorn.net/index.php?...ess-foot-on-the-gas.25138/page-3#post-3051280

If we don’t get Devers on Monday night, especially after Nunez’ misplays last night, Cora has rocks in his head. Holt needs to play too.

Wait a minute, Devers is 0 for 12 against Severino, last year and this; Nunez 5 for 18 with 2 doubles, last year and this. Crap, but I think Cora starts Devers anyway. Holt is 0 for 8. Kinsler is 1 for 23. SSS all, but not encouraging for the left handed hitters. Not much gold to be mined here, unless you think playoffs might make a difference. Those were all regular season numbers.

What website gives the pitcher's mug with the "losing pitcher" title underneath? Just wondering.

What a titanic blast that was, Sanchez, Stanton, Judge and Voit look like NFL linebackers, not MLB players.

The Yankees are built for the post season, a strong bullpen and a line up 1-9 that can hit home runs, if Judge doesn't kill you, Stanton, Voit, Sanchez, Gregorius, whoever will.

Just relentless, they grind away, get into your bullpen and that's that.

True though I dont know if the Sox are in such dire straits. To read posts here you would think they are down 0-2 heading to NY and have not been competitive. A win in NY changes everything. They aren't in a do or die situation - help us BROCKHOLT! - just yet.

I think it is actually better for the RHB because LHP can't nibble on the outside corner since the RHB can just flick it the opposite way for a 318' HR. Look at the HR Voit and Judge had last time against Price at the toilet. A RHP can pound the outside corner against a LHP by comparison and force him to take it the other way to the big part of the ballpark.

Pitchers miss location often to lefty hitters and give them middle - in pitches to hammer onto the porch. Ask Benintendi, who has more away HR at the stadium than at any other park.

I will take you or DrewDawg. But he can close it out for you in the ALCS after the Sox go up 3-1 on whomever they face.

The next time that someone is successful getting on a post-season run after being selected because of a good regular season run will be the first time. SoSH just never learns some things.
