During the 2004 ALCS, I was scaring one of the dogs, yelling at the TV. 14 years later, Mollie is gone but now Gracie is running to hide behind Mrs. Moxie. Gonna be a long week.

So with the Wright news (and why would the Sox want to share that?) maybe Cora wasn't as irrational as he appeared to some tonight.

Again, the Sox bullpen isn't great. But they can piece together outs and if they can bridge the gap to Kimbrel they can win. However its going to take more of what Cora did tonight, trial and error shit. It won't be pretty either but there is a path to making it work.

I feel like with Wright out he should have pushed Sale through the 6th then used ERod at some point. Brasier is a clean inning guy, and Workman should not be in a high leverage situation early.

he probably got sprung with no Wright today though.

Couldnt watch the last 2 innings. Important Win but the BP performance is worrisome. Hope they got it out of their system and it improves going forward

Maybe Price can go deep and give our hearts a rest

Sale and Porcello were pulled too early, Workman too late. Still a huge win.

Sale was at 93 pitches when he left the game with two on and one out. All three batters he faced made contact. He appeared gassed. Given his recent issues and the fact that he got hit pretty hard during his most recent outing (when he threw 92 pitches back on 9/26) it makes sense that Cora decided to pull him. Sale's pitch count splits are insane on their face but his OPS against goes up more than 100 points after 76 pitches. Like many here, I would have loved for Sale to finish that inning cleanly and then get ready to tie up the Yankees next week (if needed) but riding him there wasn't defensible from a data & health perspective.

Edit: I know this is a game thread and emoting is the coin of the realm. Furthermore, I know I tend to be too positive sometimes when most people here are correctly nervous. However, my humble opinion is if we are going to criticize moves, we should at least use data to do so. Of course, anyone is free to disagree and I won't call anyone a baby for doing so. But if you look at the numbers including recent game logs and factor in that Cora wasn't likely being totally irrational in not using someone like Wright, it helps to understand the decisions being made.

Yes , I saw the post game where it was said that it just happened to Wright's knee.
Which begs the question - How? Did he slip in the shower or something?
Weird that he was getting his work in games without issue, yet this would just crop up after a few days off.

Yeah Peter we all pretty much agree that the old tired "Yankee Sucks" chant has run it's course but how in the hell is that a valid analogy?

In the eighth inning of what may be a do or die game with the tension of a Game Seven, Nenderthal Fenway Park "fans" chanting "Yankees (---) are eerily like those who chant "lock her up" at a pol rally designed to demean female assault victims' trauma.
