I wish Sheffield was as articulate as Rrollins.

Fair enough. I saw Leskanic get key outs and every pitch was painful. Cora was trying to clean up messes with old tissues, some cotton balls and a holey t-shirt. He soaked it up though...

Whew. On the ropes but hung tough and made it to the bell. Hats off to Judge, but Kimbrel looked nasty. Huge win! Let's go Price!

He says more interesting baseball stuff, though.

Also, I imagine he can spell "Rollins" correctly.

What an absurd ass licking question to Boone about his bullpen.

    Weird shit?

Brought in our only non-closer with a sub 2 ERA. He shit the bed.

Brought in our mediocre reliever while up 4. He shit the bed.

Brought in our reliever that was lights our the first half of the season. He shit the bed.

Brought in our game 3 starter to restore order. Removed him to keep him available for game 3.

Brought in our closer. Won the game.

I'm seeing a bullpen doing it's best to explode and Cora doing a pretty fucking good job containing the damage. The group think in this thread is pathetic.

Seriously. You guys need some RMPS playoff experience. Those dudes go hard and are confident until the clock hits zero. A lot more fun to participate with that atmosphere than this Sky Is Falling shit. This isnt 2003. Its ok to trust your team and enjoy the ride.

I think AF Boone just threw Happ under the bus. Had to be prompted to mention the offense leaving all those guys on base.

So all those breaking balls - clearly them just trying to throw off timing and keep their power in check right?

If that's the Porcello we get out of the bullpen over the next 3 weeks, we are going to be okay. I have no idea how Judge hit that Kimbrel pitch for a home run.... sometimes credit is due.

But, man, that was more stressful than I wanted it to be after the 3rd inning.

I’m thinking the Sox may be so focused on keeping the ball in the ballpark that walks will be the price paid. Which is terrifying.

I agree that the game could have easily turned with another catcher behind the plate. How many times did Leon dig balls out of the dirt? Once Sale was out of the game it felt like a bunch until Porcello and Kimbrell came in.

The bullpen definitely gave us all a heart attack but there was some cause for optimism hidden amidst the chaos. Brasier got into trouble and got a double play ball that just wasn’t hit hard enough, Workman got a huge K of Torres on a ballsy 3-2 breaking pitch, Barnes walked a man and yanked one into the dirt but rebounded to overpower Stanton with the bases juiced and none out before inducing a DP ball from Fuckface that the defense wasn’t able to turn, and lastly Craig got beat by Judge but responded by plowing through the next three hitters on strikes to finish the game.

Disregarding Hicks who left with an injury, every Yankee struck out in this game.

This is sort of where I am. When post-Brasier relievers actually pitched strikes they got weak outs, Judge Homer excepted. And not as many runs as it could have been

Both Workman and Barnes hung tough in situations that called for collapse.

Nor our finest bullpen hour, but holy shit they got it done.

This is a pretty rosy assessment and one fairly devoid of intra-inning context. But I fucking love it, and feel better because of it.

Edit: not sure what intra-inning context is! O'Kav out!

I think this was very important for Kimbrel especially. He gets so amped and overthrows, but I think tonight under his belt will help him going forward.

I thought Cora was awesome tonight - did the best he could to bring home a critical win with a bullpen that was trying to set a record for 40 foot curveballs. I hope to god that was just nerves on our bullpen

Fingers crossed. Was just starting to wonder if the plan had shifted to using Porcello out of the pen and having Steven start a game in this series.
