Houston's pitching is superb top to bottom, but no staff will hold this lineup down long, and our starters are capable of matching theirs.

Sox in 6.

I have to think...pitching really favors the Astors. Also - 3 middle round games at home under a roof (always disliked the 2-3-2 format, but what can you do) favors the Astors. Red Sox are more accustomed to playing in shitty conditions.

How umpires match up with starters may also make a difference.

They may be thought unsinkable, but nobody expects the iceberg just ahead

p.s. Sox in 7 baby.

Sox in 6 - but 5 of the 6 games will be close back-and-forth type affairs. Sox win the one blowout.

Sox win, but I have no idea how many games this will go. David Price will be a huge factor one way or the other. Mookie saves his greatest show for this ALCS.

Sox in 6. Lose games 2 and 4.

Score 33 runs., allow 21

Beni and Betts combine for 5 HR and 14 Runs scored.

Sales goes 14.1 IP, 2 ER, 2-0, in 2 starts and 1 relief appearance (0.2 IP) in game 3.

Sox in 7. Not that i’d bet my life on it, but the consistency with which i’m sewing experts pick the Astors in getting me all riled up.

I saw significantly more experts pick the Yankees than the Sox for the series that just ended.

Somebody gets Verlander like Napoli did in 2013, we continue to own Keuchel, our resident genius knows an Achilles heel of Bregman and Springer. That should be enough. Did people see that Henry said Cora was like a magician in the Yankee series?

Sox in 6.

The Astros are scary good, but I’m thinking Cora has some ideas about how to handle their big bats.

Correa is hurt and doing terrible. Hopefully we’re in a position where we don’t need to give Bergman anything to hit.

Springer is worrying with Altuve behind him though.

We win game one 4-2 in a bit of a pitching duel, with some late offense against their bullpen.

Game two, Price flirts with disaster, but does just enough to keep us in the game before getting bailed out by the pen w/ no outs and runners on the corners in the fifth. Goes 4 IP, allows 2 runs. Sox win 6-4.

Between games 3 and 4, the Sox win Porcello’s 7-1 game as he throws a gem, but lose Eovaldi’s when he gets a bit roughed up, and the pen makes things worse. Sox lose 9-4.

In Game 5, Sale dominates, and the Sox go into the bottom of the 9th leading 2-1. Kimbrel spits the bit, and coughs up a walk-off to Springer after he walks the #9 guy on four pitches. SoSH goes down for 37 minutes after the Sox lose 3-2.

Series goes back to Fenway, with Price on the mound. Wild speculation about “why not Porcello?” and “Porcello first out of pen” and “Sale needs to go in game 7, right?” — but it doesn’t matter. Price throws seven shutdown innings, Barnes and Braiser close it out, and the Sox win the game 5-0 — and the series 4-2.

Because starting such a thread and accepting only laundry votes would be fucking useless
I'm just tweaking you (and protecting against my own superstitions). But we really don't want to get into a discussion about what actual value an opinion poll here has, do we?? ;)

Sox in four. Fuck ya'll.

I'd like to say "one game further than the Yankees" but we already beat them, so maybe "one game further than the Yankees last year"?

So Sox in 7.

Astros in 5.
This is what I have. I think Verlander outduels Sale in a tight one and then Price is mediocre and they take game two. The Sox won game 3 but Houston wins game 4. Then Sale struggles with velocity in game 5 and they put up 4 on him.

I hope I’m really really really wrong.

Sox in 6. Lots of close games. Brewers beat LA in 6.

Is it bad juju to predict the WS? Because I think it will be closer than relative regular season records might indicate... But still confident.

Sox in 3 epic beatdowns. In game 4, Cora hits a lead off home run, throws a no hitter, and the sox win 1-0 without fielding a team.

Sox in 7. These teams are too good to rob America of every possible inning. Plus, the universe wouldn't let my nerves off the hook that easily. I think Cora finds just enough magic/strategic wizardry with the bullpen to navigate their lineup, even if I never feel comfortable with it, and the Sox should at least be able to hit velocity. They split at Fenway, win two in HOU, and then lose game 6, but the 'Stros can't win back-to-back elimination games and gas out in Game 7.

I'm terrified of the Astros. They are crazy talented. That said, this Red Sox team is special. Cora figures out some way to win the series in 3.

Sox in 6.

We are so spoiled. Sure, Houston is really good. This Sox team is really good, too. I think folks might just take that a bit for granted.

Houston in 5.

Bullpen blows game 1, offense explodes game 2, Houston wins all 3 at home.

Astros in 6. They are least flawed team of the 4 teams left and probably in MLB. And they won 2 more games then last year but more important I think they are better then last year. They're scary and they probably have a little chip on their shoulder to prove that last year was no fluke.

Heart says Boston in 6 but brain says Houston in 7. They have a nasty rotation.

I do have confidence in this lineup to get to their rotation (they have been ruthless the 2nd time through order recently) but I just think we will be exposed slightly too much for our lack of depth in pen behind our solid rotation.

I'll be honest, if I had full confidence in Price, I would say Red Sox in my brain too.
