You folks waiting for this thread?

Behave in here. Sox are taking the series lead tonight, so no reason to act like spoiled a-holes.

I picked up the evil stomach bug that is going around these parts (PA) from my 2nd grader son and his dirty little friends. I want to crawl into a hole and die, but alas, E-O-VAL-DI! is scheduled to pick up a big win tonight and I can't miss that. I'm gonna rest all day and save all my non-toilet time strength for the night hours. Let's go.

If Kimbrel comes on for the 9th, you may want to head to the bathroom. I nearly shit myself Sunday night and my stomach was feeling fine beforehand.

Kick ass. Win. Less late inning drama, more early inning hits. Get it done.

GO SOX - Keep on keeping' on!

    Not at all.

However, proclaiming that the season is over the minute the Sox face adversity, especially early in a non-elimination game, is perhaps a bit aggressive. These games are going to be tough and Houston is no joke.

If someone is expecting the Sox pitching to be perfect or even just stingy and their hitters to all rake every AB, these games are bound to be upsetting. imho, its better to expect nothing and hope for the best. It doesn't always feel great but its a lot more enjoyable than being bitter and devoid of all hope in the second inning.

    Let's get it done!

I expect a CGSO with 20 K's from Eovaldi and 8 combined home runs by the Red Sox. Nothing more, nothing less.

    Kinsler and Nunez? Seriously?!?!

I know, l know, Keuchel is a lefty and the porch in left is short, but, man.

How are we going to win this game with Eovaldi planning to give up three jacks in a row?

We will win and we will get contributions from the unlikely. That is the Red Sox way in 2018.

Also, this is the exact mojo needed to win tonight.

Devers and Holt should be starting, but it is likely they will both be watching from the dugout. Watching Kinsler come up and look cooked is not good for my blood pressure.

Playing the righties feels a little like Cora is “going with his guys.” Not bowing to the pressure of the moment or the last outing results. Sort of like sticking with Price.

    I like it.

Keuchel career split (it's almost even in 2018 btw)

    .666 against OPS versus righties
    .435 against OPS versus lefties
    This is fantastic and timely.

Don't know when the last time they've faced each other, but at least Kinsler is 11 for 36 vs Kuechel. It is at least defendable I think. Nunez 2 for 4 over Devers no at bats is stretching it, but I would pretty much always rather have Devers in.

It also gives us a great bench for when we get to the bullpen (in the 4th).

When you start from the ending of the story, specifically that the Red Sox are destined to beat the Brewers to complete the beer stadium trifecta, the tiny details along the way—such as the starting lineup in game 3 of the ALCS—become irrelevant, as it is all equally in service to the inevitability of beating the residents of Miller Park.

This might be even better work than his Bingo card that DeadSpin picked up a few years ago.

It's clearly a higher level of theoretical physics. And the work clearly scans.

I'm hoping this is the plan - to bring Devers and Brock in when we get into the pen.

And I would like to see Blake behind the plate to start, but I think that's too much to hope for.

Keuchel has not been anything special this year. Time for the Offense to make their statement. Beat on Keuchel like the last time they faced him. Take control, just like Game 3 in the Toilet.

Any good NYC West Village bars to watch the game in? Looking for something near the office as I have a meeting ending at 5, plus places like Thom's will be insane by that time.

McCann in for Maldonado is huge. Get on base and run, run, run.

Also, Altuve must be hurting if he is DHing today.

When The Riv would be full 2 hours before first pitch (ca. 2003-2004), I would go to The Kettle of Fish on Christopher, just East of 7th Ave. Very much a Sox bar then, even in a series against the Yankees.
