Time to move on. David Price is gonna tie this series up. No doubt in my mind. Sox about to win 8 in a row.

I started a game thread this year when we were 0-1, and we went a nice little streak. It's gonna happen again.

    Also, Bregman is an ass.

There are times when I hate the Red Sox Offense, and then they turn around and score 16 runs. I hope this is one of those times.

I am irrationally confident in Price for this start.

    Price goes 7 effortless.

The Astros offense looked weak, 9th not included (that was Workman).

    Win.

Maybe, just maybe, the loss causes Price to develop a "screw it, nothing to lose" type mentality and he goes out and pitches like he's not an emotional wreck.

    Irrational?

Probably, but also probably no less irrational that starting Price in game 2.

Tonight Price makes almost half the Red Sox fans upset. Not for "choking" but for shutting their hater fucking faces up. He dominates the Astros in a complete 9 inning game. Assfaces like Shaughnessy can barely take it

There is a quality joke in here for sure.

Keep us in the game during first 4 innings, work Cole's pitch count, and make their bullpen get us out in the cold. 6-5 final, Moreland with the PH go-ahead RBI. Unsung hero of the night.....Eduardo Rodriguez with 3 big middle inning goose eggs!

I'm just going to keep blathering on here about getting Devers offensive potential into the game....
    I want to see:

    Betts
    Benintendi
    JDM
    X
    Pearce
    Devers
    Holt
Vazquez (with Swihart PH'ing if the game is close by the 5th inning)

Just win at all costs. I really hope the crowd is better tonight. Cole strikes me as a pitcher who could be rattled in a hostile road environment.

I missed most of the end of last night's game, but it turns out to have been a good thing. Tonight I want to watch the end of the game, and I want that to be a good thing.

Related question, does anyone know a good bar to watch baseball at in Montreal? The place I ended up in last night didn't get the channel, somehow.

I am hoping to write few comments about the announcers and umps.

I tend to do that when the Sox are losing.

Top of the order stays asleep, pitching won't matter.

We absolutely cannot play Nunez in this game. If we are playing him for defense over Dever’s offense, then last night cleared that up.

I’m sure someone must have commented on this somewhere on the board, but how was Cora’s decision based on Nunez being better against high velocity pitchers? Better than the guy who took Chapman deep?

We had probably one of our worst games of the season last night and it was still a one run game up until the 9th. The Astros are fucking good, but hardly unbeatable.

    Let's do this.

    1) The last time the Astros lost 4 of 6 was mid-August. Altuve and Springer were both injured and not playing those games. The last time the Astros lost 4 of 6 with all their stars playing was the first week of June (so, it's doable).

    2) As of this second, no current Astros reliever on the playoff roster has given up a run this postseason (earned or unearned). Only Will Harris gave up a run and he was removed after the Indians series.

The pitch count stuff doesn’t matter with the Astros.

They’re all Gerrit Cole in that bullpen.

As of right now, Price (5.28) has a lower career postseason ERA than Sale (5.85) does. I hope that remains true after tonight, but...

There are a ton of tickets available for tonight in the $30 range on StubHub. To say the Sox are no longer the hottest ticket in town is an understatement.

2.77 road era this season, but his K/9 rate does drop to 11.7 and hitters OPS against him on the road jumps to .616

Mookie and Benintendi and JD. If they get it going, we win this game. If they don’t, it won’t matter what Price does. Same as it ever was.

also, dumb unrelated question, is the team branded stuff you can buy from mlb.com any good, quality wise? i have literally no red sox gear and kind of want a hoodie, but idk if i want to pay $75 for one if they are garbage...

Yeah I've never seen a playoff game go for so cheap. I know it's competing with SNF but still it's the ALCS. You'd never be able to sniff playoff tickets for the Celtics at that price.

It is the playoffs, but Sunday night games are always the cheapest tickets, the coldish weather doesn’t help, the Pats game doesn’t help, Price probably doesn’t help, and although a ton of Astros fans traveled to Boston for the September series (and the Texans game) I doubt that there are as many transplanted Astros fans in Boston as there are for many other teams. Still to me it’s surprising the tix are SO cheap and so much under face value.

Houston is a really good team. Probably the best team in MLB since September 1.
    They are not, however, unbeatable.

    [Ahem]
May I have your attention please?
May I have your attention please?
Will the real Sox Offense please stand up?
I repeat, will the real Sox Offense please stand up?
Houston's gonna have a problem here...

Y'all act like we've never been down before
Jaws all on the floor like Boone and Bucky Dent just walked through the door
And broke our hearts with an extra inning score
But, shit, then along came Twenty-0-4
It's the return of the "Ah, wait Ump, no way, you're kidding
That was clearly a strike Sale shoulda been gettin'
And Joe West said...he didn't go, you idiots!"
Angel Hernandez is blind, he's locked in CC's basement!
    Saber geeks love the 'Stros
Springer and Altuve, but the Sox? We're sick of them
"Look at them, walking around, grabbing JD Mart
Signing you-know-who," "Yeah, but can he Triple the Crown, though?
Yeah, two team MVP's can be a bit confusing
But no worse than what the Yankees are used to doing
Sometimes I wanna reach through the tv and let loose
But can't, but it's cool for ARod to hit the cream and juice
"The purple's on my lips, the purple's on my lips"
And if we're lucky, he'll give Jenny a little kiss
And that's the message we deliver to little kids
and expect them not to know Madonna and what HGH is
But of course they're gonna know what limp-d is
by the time they hit fourth grade
They watch Cialis commercials, don't they?
Sing the chorus, and it goes—

No, Cora ain't Grady, he's definitely not Grady
All you pink hat ladies are just irritating
So won't the real Sox Offense please stand up
Please stand up, please stand up?
'Cause Cora ain't Grady, he's more like Tom Brady
All you other non-GOAT's are impersonating
So won't the real Sox Offense please stand up
Please stand up, please stand up?

Ha ha, I guess there's a little Grady in all of us
    F-it, let's all stand up!
