I made it to at least a game each round of these playoffs (in most cases, more than one). However, despite repeated attempts across a number of sources, I had come up dry throughout the Finals. With reports in this forum of day-of-game tickets being available, I said fuck it the afternoon of Game 6 and told the wife to meet me in town. Going straight to the box office, I scored a single in the balcony and then another on the street for a little over face.

We made it inside just after the anthems (damnit!) and spotted a pair of open seats near the top of 317. Marshy buried the first just after we reached the seats, the floodgates opened after that, and the party was on. We had to move after the first intermission but actually found another pair in 322 where our 10 Game Plan seats were located. As a bonus, these sad sacks were sitting in front of us.

Best $750 I ever spent.

Get 'er done tonight boys!

Already drunk after a round of terrible golf today. No better way to celebrate RMPS Day.

Also, the City and Colour intro reminded me of this one. Not as good as the Game 3 or 4 one where they trolled Cooke but great nonetheless, especially given the result.

Game 7, June 15, 2011
Boston 4 VANCOUVER 0

A series where home ice king shifted back to Vancouver for Game 7, the first Stanley Cup Fina Game 7 in Bruin franchise history.
The teams traded chances early but both goalies looked poised to make it a low scoring affair. With 5:31 left in the first coming off the tv timeout Patrice Bergeron won a faceoff at the right dot to Marchand who circled along the half wall. Marchand centered a pass past Mark Rechhi's backhand right to Patrice Bergeron who beat Luongo clean from the middle of 3 Canucks. At 14:37 the Bruins had a 1-0 lead and headed to the locker room with the first lead held by the road team all series.
Midway though the second Chara played the role of Ryder with a save of his own off a deflected turnover to preserve the 1 goal lead. Just 3:24 later Marchand corralled a Seidenberg rebound in the slot, circled behind the net, and beat Luongo to the post on the wraparound to put the Bruins up 2. It was a goal most goalies would have stopped, but with the way Luongo was out of the net it was a hard save for him.
Desperate to get back into the game Vancouver drew an interference penalty on Chara late in the period. The plan backfired, however, as Patrice Bergeron took a clearing pass from Seidenberg, beat 2 Canucks down the ice, and knocked a rebound past Luongo while sliding to the boards after being tripped. The Bruins headed to the 3rd up 3.
The cheap shots from Vancouver continued at 5:33 of the 3rd as Hansen drilled Ference late and high away from the puck and while the Bruins weren't able to score on the power play 2 more valuable minutes ticked off the clock. Tim Thomas took care of things the rest of the way, making 37 saves to complete the shutout. An empty netter from Marchand at 17:16 provided the final margin of 4-0 and it was time to get the duck boats ready - after 39 long years The Cup is back home. The Bruins are 2011 Stanley Cup Champians.

Tim Thomas was named Conn Smythe winner as playoff MVP. Zdeno Chara took the Cup from Bettman, took a victory lap, and passed it to Mark Recchi who retired after the game after winning his 3rd Cup.
Fuckin' Right.

In the middle of the rewatch. I'll never change my mind that the Thimas save on Gionta in Game 5 was the single greatest save I've seen and also the most important play of the entire playoffs.

The entire Bruins franchise takes a different turn (for better or worse) if he doesn't make that ridiculous save.

Nothing beats a HNIC montage. Absolutely nothing.

Edit: I also distinctly remember pumping myself up in the morning to the Diddy song. My god that was the most excited I ever was to drive to Quincy.

Edit 2: Nothing beats HNIC except for a Rich-produced montage. Just listened to it again. Chill inducing back in a time when sports probably meant too much but I didn't give two shits about it. Now, the highs aren't as high, lows aren't as low, but that Cup win was fucking great.
