Otamendi sliding into Mignolet with some pace, wouldn't be surprised if he gets himself sent off by the end of this

I hate red cards so I'd like to find a way for that to be yellow but the contact was very bad. I took out more than one keeper in my feeble playing days on similar balls but always with a shoulder or head collision. In the end I think that's the problem, it was a 50/50 and if he had just clattered him it's different but that's high foot all over the pitch and there's no reason to play a ball that high with your foot if you think you're alone.

Either way, I've had enough of the reds. Liverpool were giving City fits and City at times returning the favor. Was going to be good entertainment.

How do you define brutal? This is an awfully fine line that you’re trying to establish.

Both had their feet high, neither saw the opponent, both made contact.

Well, Ramos' challenge was with the top of the foot, following through on a bicycle.

Mane showed studs all the way thru Ederson's face. IMO, Zomp is entirely correct.

Studs up? Straight leg to a defenseless keeper charging out?

I'm not denying its a fine line. Every week there are decisions that will make you question the way some rules are written. This one isn't even that controversial. Mane's challenge, as innocent as it was, is one of the more brutal ones you'll ever see.

Sure, it's a fine line. But that's the refs job.

One was in a much more dangerous situation with far more force behind it. Trying to compare the follow through of a bicycle kick with a jumping kick with both players at full speed is disingenuous, the danger isn't the same. Same reason coming in full tilt studs up is often a red, but a player already on the ground tripping someone isn't.

Also the rule on serious foul play specifically calls out plays where you lunge toward the opponent recklessly, which is the case in the Mane foul but not in the bicycle kick situation.

Oxlade-Chamberlain on for Salah.

My fantasy football Mané / Salah midfield combo is looking good
And I dropped DeBruyne and Jesus. Solid!

Man advantage aside, City look 100x better in attack than before. In their first couple of games DeB was a non factor and Aguer and Jesus looked unsure of how to play off each other.

California. Duh.
Well, this is about as easy as possible to shrug off a 5-0 loss. City played well regardless of the man advantage, but there's really not much Liverpool could go after the red.

FWIW, maybe it wasn't a bad thing for Mane's health getting sent off - he was stumbling around kind of woozy, he might have been concussed too.

Everton and Spurs as you might expect - Everton composed and possessed, and putting together some nice bits of business, but not able to stretch Spurs; Spurs putting together some dangerous chances but not finding the net yet.

Rooney is grabbing tits driving drunk playing up front and not doing much. Very surprised that DCL not playing. Gylfi the only one doing much.

Now Eriksen.

Everton not acquitting themselves against the upper echelon.

Everton sub in Calvert-Lewin and Davies, for some youth and pace to catch up....

and they leave Kane all alone for another goal not even a minute into the second half.

Kane makes it 3. Nice finish but that was waaay too easy. Everton have been really poor.

From a tweet:

No shot on target for Everton in last 2 and-a-half hours in PL - opponents have had 11 in that time.

Burnley up 1-0 but Palace have looked good and are the aggressor. Heaton injured and left game.

Hodgson, holy hell. We feel for you @jkempa
Thank you. This has the feel of Neil Warnock to it. A warm body who has a name people recognize.

That said, maybe he can get us a goal before the end of the 8th game.

The team actually looked pretty good yesterday except for missing about five sitters and giving Burnley's goal to them on a silver platter. Not much de Boer could have done about those.
