That is the question of the ages, and one that demands an answer... And not just one shutdown game, we need to see multiple shutdown games from the BP...

    That starts now...

    Speaking of potential shutdowns--

    100 years ago today:

    1918-sep 8 75 01.jpg

    1918-sep 8 76-77 02.jpg

What does this mean? I have no idea.

    But they won.

    So they should win. QED

Of course I’m worried about the bullpen, but in the postseason with so many days off, it is managed completely different. What I look forward today is E-Rod’s performance against a good team. If Sale and Price perform as they have done along brilliant moments (for 7 or 8innings in each game) of their careers and E-Rod is for real, with the offense Sox have, I do not see any reason for being preocupied

MLB.COM shows EDT on its schedules and ESPN shows Pacific because they know my address, I guess. I looked at ESPN but thought I was looking at MLB, so I thought it was on in half an hour. So I committed to something else this afternoon. I know, nobody cares. Maybe I can do that afternoon thing this morning though.

Glad to be having a chance to watch on FS1 this afternoon, and to be sharing in the snark with you fine folk.

Moreland should be sitting for Pearce/Swihart/Phillips. He is a complete waste of a lineup spot at the moment. If the whole point of these games is to see what we have in the marginal guys, then shouldn't Phillips be given a shot over Moreland?

Score enough runs that the ‘pen is a minimal factor today.

For a guy who attended, what, 2 of the 3 game sweep in Atlanta, what’s with the attitude? Yeah, last night could remove a lot of good feeling.

I am a big Moreland fan, but it seems reasonable to give him more rest at this time, following the knee into the big metal nonsense he ran into, and playing Swihart, Pearce, and possibly Agent Zero at first.
But, to everyone's relief, I have no say.
    Geaux, Sox!!!!!!!!

Since the All Star break, Moreland is hitting just .177 so Phillips, Pearce or Swihart all deserve a shot. Maybe it is a rest Moreland needs.

We may be seeing something with Rodriguez like Bruce Hurst's stretch run in 1986 after he came back rested from the groin injury DL stint.

If Porcello was rolling, I would seriously consider Sale for the Andrew Miller role from 2016.
