Ball 4, but it's 2-2.
Should be ball 4
JBJ has no chance. The ump has totally screwed him.
Using Umps to call balls and strikes is no longer defensible (IMO)
Ump is a total ass. Completely butchered those calls... it was a 4 pitch walk
Gotta win tomorrow to avoid the first 4 game losing streak of the season.
When you call back to back pitches strikes when one was inside, the other was outside, and they are both low, you really don't give the batter a chance.
Moreland is a big concern. Like Benintendi, his power has evaporated at the worst time. If he’s not hitting for power he’s useless. Mitchy Two Bags isn’t even hitting xbh anymore.
Man, it would be so cool to award a contract to MIT, along with someone with deep pockets like Google to develop a ball/strike calling system and try it out in spring training. You say it would it hurt the umpires feelings? Too fucking bad.
Cora apparently ripped Edro in the postgame. Can!t find any text though.
Meaningless games or not. It would be a HUGE drag to get swept by the MFY in the last series of the reg. season.
Hope Price doesn't go after him for that.
Good. Wakeup call for the rest of them, or do others get ripped a new one.
Just as long as he didn't say "Yuck!" Them's fighting words. Price would have no choice but to show him up on the team plane.
wonder how much on the bubble he could be, at least as a starter.
Cora is doubling down on the idea that momentum means nothing and there are benefits to taking the foot off the gas pedal. We’ll see if he’s a genius or not.
I hate that.
Did they take the foot off the pedal or run out of gas? 19–18 the last 37 and miserable record in that time against AL teams that are good
I’m inclined not to make too much of it. We will find out soon enough.
As far as I know momentum is psychological. By Cora’s words today, he is taking care of his players and I’m sure, since many days ago, he talked to his players and told them about how insignificant these games were. I believe all of the players are taking these games as ST games, relaxing, conditioning and probably experimenting new things. What happens in a 5 game series? Anything. David could kill Goliath, but generally, best teams prevail. Sox are a better team than 28; Houston, I don’t know.
It is natural to wonder if Cora’s approach will hurt them in the playoffs, but the Yankees still need to beat the As to get the right to play the Sox. If they use Tanaka to try and save Happ for game 1 against the Sox, there is a good chance they are watching the ALDS on TV. I wish the Red Sox had been playing better lately, but this isn’t the same as the last two seasons.
Between this and being a peacemaker during the brawl in April, Stanton is tough to root against.
Stanton is easy to root against. He forced a trade to the MFY for a bag of rotten fruit and now wears pinstripes. I have no trouble rooting against anyone that wears pinstripes and a cap with NY on it.
Stanton ~ world's tallest midget
But damnit, that's great.
And that was possible because Jeter is an aashole, as he’s always been.
Jeter as a player had the range of an AA shortstop.
Fuck Mike Stanton. It’s quite easy to hate him.
