Let’s wrap this one up and grab our third in a row before a tough series in Oakland.

Offense was quiet yesterday and a lazy Sunday game before a travel day might not do too much to wake them up but I’m confident we can get a hit before the 5th inning today against Matt effing Boyd.

Stanton sits for the first time since late May (!) and my man Loaisiga has been called up.

You're doing yeomanlike work with Loaisiga spelling. It doesn't even spell check to lasagna.

I’m starting to like Voit as this year’s Todd Frazier. He looks country strong

That’s why I want this middle infield combo in every game until Didi is back, saved them a run there.

Both pitchers over 40 pitches through 2, would love to see Loaisiga (is that really so hard?) for a few innings.

something to be said for real Major Leaguers as opposed to Jon's 'prospects'

Heh, my ‘prospects’ in the last 24 months have included Sanchez, Judge, Gleyber and Andujar.

Might be time to pull Lynn from the rotation again, 7/8/9 are 6 for 6 so far.

yes Jon everyone was a prospect once, September is an unlikely time to make any impact.... and as for our pitching atm, just throw at a dartboard our results are purely random right now

I honestly don't know who you are talking about, but Sanchez came up in 2016 and hti 20 HRs in August and September.

The real point is you don't totally know who will blossom in the bigs until they get there, and last year and this year were supposed to be about putting as many young cost-controlled guys in place as possible, before filling in where needed with proven veterans.

I mean, how many exceptions do you need? NY has put four All-Star level hitters into place in the last 24 months, who are the prospects I have hyped up too much?

and the last two wins were first severely ump-aided, then pretty fortunate with only 2 hits yesterday.

Yep, playing without their two most valuable players (Judge/Didi) is taking a toll, and the pitching has been spotty at best.

How many made an impact in their first 45 days in the majors ? You know perfectly well what I mean, it's generally not a winning strategy in what was a pennant race/post season

Also all four of those guys had a major impact in their first 45 days in the majors, as is Luke Voit right now (not sure exactly how much major league time he has, but it's not much).

Not quite a moose yet but Voit is looking like a calf, at least...let's see if they can perform against any good teams

I'd personally prefer to save Gray as a long guy if needed in the Oakland series since he is comfortable there, I would have gone with Loaisiga here but maybe he just got here a few hours ago.

Josh Bard: Stanton was available but the matchup favored Bird.

Bird was the right call. He almost hit it out. Big edge for a lefty hitter against Alcantara. Now if Bird steps in and Gardenhire jumps out of the dugout to bring in a lefty, then you pinch hit Stanton for Bird. That's Managing 101.

Btw, Sterling's call on Bird's liner to right: "It is high, it is far ... it is caught at the wall." True Yankee fans stuck with radio never take the bait on Sterling's HR calls until he says the ball is gone. And then you have to hope he doesn't come back and say it was foul.
