A shameful performance
That sums up the night
10-6 in September, including 4-4 against playoff teams. All while significantly easing up on the gas pedal. Not worried.
The fact that they have won more than 100 doesn't matter, they are limping into the playoffs again. They need to wake up and start hitting or this season will end after 165.
Fuck that. They're going to be fine.
Where is this limping into the playoffs again narrative coming from? They went 17-10 last September. 19-8 in 2016.
I remember losing a lot of the last 10 games in both seasons.
we're just starting those last 10 games tomorrow, so yeah, too early to start this bullshit right now.
I get that losing any game to the MFY sucks, but some of you guys really overreact to what’s basically a meaningless game.
Since you think these games are meaningless, you must believe the offense will suddenly come to life when the games mean something. This isn't about the loss, it is about the offense being basically non-existent. If they were hitting and lost, then no one would care.
And come October they’ll be fine. Don’t worry, be happy.
Just looked at the replays. Would any of the three long balls against Price have been homers in Fenway? Not sure where to find that kind of data.
(Or alternatively, does Statcast measure the HR probability on fly balls based on launch angle and velocity?)
The playoffs are a different season. In every sport. It doesn’t matter if they back in at 92 wins or win 130 and go undefeated in September. What they do this week literally means nothing when it comes to a playoff series.
I posted this earlier, but the comibned HIT probability of the three balls was 55%. out of 300%.
it was absolutely a bullshit night. Price didn't have complete control but that is a quality start at Fenway.
Almost time to dust off the how worried are you thread.
Get a grip.
They’ll get hot when the bell rings or they won’t. Theyre not worlds better than NYY or HOU, so that and some luck is what itll take.
As for the regular season, this team has nothing to be concerned about. It is two games on the road against an excellent team.
I'm 100% sure the Sox will wrap things up this week, but the past two games have given a lot of confidence to a probable playoff opponent.
Finished 2016 1-5 in the regular season.
Lost 3 out of 4 at home including Sale getting shelled by the Blue Jays after the now infamous 300th K in his prior start against the Orioles before clinching the East in Game 161.
I know, I was joking. I thought it was a thing we were doing.
Thanks. Where do you find that kind of info? I can't even find the actual Statcast numbers for the game itself. (For some reason it appears in the MLB Gamecast "Feed" but it goes away once the game is final.)
Ha. If they were hitting and lost, the ledge would be filled with pitching-worriers.
Seems like every other 1st or 2nd place team in MLB 6-4 or 5-5 over the last 10. Astros got shelled last night. Cubs bullpen looks admiringly at the Sox pen.
As someone said, maybe they'll hit in the playoffs, maybe they wont. But barring injury, how they hit right now has very little, if any, predictive value as to how they will hit in 2 weeks.
