100% agreed. I spent the majority of that inning with a big smile. They need one. I’m fine seeing Price dominate in YS tomorrow for the clincher.

The logical human being in me says this can’t be it.

The emotional sports fan in me can’t stop chortling at the thought of it.

part of tonight seemed to be the rain conditions.

whatever, Eovaldi vs Happ I get half-punting it from the outset. Price vs Severino, put in the A lineup tomorrow.

I like what I saw from Eovaldi tonight. He was walking around the mound like he owned the place. I think he might be a key to the post season bullpen.

When you’re up by double digits with two weeks to go, they kind of are.

You don't really celebrate it. You observe it.

It's actually a solemn occasion. Celebration is no part of it. That said, Kinsler may not be in any way religious.
He has been good defensively, but disappointing on offense.

I hope he can go 8. Or they score a ton of runs. This middle bullpen. Yuck

The Astros averaged 4.3 runs per game in the postseason last year to overcome their bullpen issues. This Red Sox offense needs to do about the same or better because they can’t win 1-0 games.

What we really need is to reverse the Ian Kinsler for Ty Buttrey trade

That would probably mean Nunez is still at 2nd. Are you sure this is the course of action you would prefer?

It would seem that was the plan from the time the Sox Line Up card was made out. Punt this and get key people rested for the Price clincher tomorrow. Hope that plan works.

It is so scary to watch the offense struggle so much against good pitching, especially when the bullpen rears its ugly face.

Phillips, Holt or Lin with Buttrey is what I prefer but it’s with some hindsight of course. The kid has been outstanding and I believe is now closing games for 500K a year

    Against Toronto.

You call this game meaningless, but the real meaningless games are the ones where the bullpen performs well against bad teams. That tells us nothing.

Not to pile on, but I don’t want to see Vaz catch a single game in the playoffs. He is complete trash.

According to the MLB boxscore, Workman pitched 0.1 innings, facing three batters and was credited with a Hold and the Loss. Since he gave up two runs that gave the Yankees the lead that the Sox never caught up with, the loss makes sense. But a hold?

When he left the game the score was still 1-0 Red Sox, so he does qualify for a hold.

You gotta play the hot hand-- I don't blame them for hitting a third tailor-made double play ball given the way the first two went. Strategically it was genius, just didn't pan out this time. Tip your hat and move on.
