Starting this game thread with Yankees leading 2-1 in fourth inning. It is Sunday and everyone must be watching the NFL.
Cutch led off with a homer. Lance Lynn hasn't run out of gas yet. But he will.
The problem for sports fans is there's too much to choose from in September and October. Yankees are hanging on to home field WC but we all know that will come down to final week, maybe final day.
    As for today, nobody cares.

AFC East already sucks this year. Bills look like they can go 0-16. Dolphins beating the Jets 20-0. This is your competition, Pats fans.

I'm watching, and it's meh. I see Jon is already promoting his scapegoat for the year which he telegraphed early on...in a way it's so retro: half the Yankee fans back in the day insisted they won despite Stengel...if Boone does that I'll be more than content...

Oh, it's definitely not all Boone's fault, not even close. My only point is that I didn't like him coming in and he has done very little this year to make me change that opinion or (much more importantly) to make me think he will improve next year.

In the really important news, Rays lead A's 3-0 in the fifth.
Yesterday was a double bullpen game won by Rays, 7-5.
Oakland went back to tradition today, starting Mike Fiers. Rays emptying the bullpen again.

I want David Cone to manage next year.
And maybe they could bullpen the manager's job, with all of the announcers taking games, including Ma and Pa Kettle.

I don't care who manages, I'd just like all the primary players to have something resembling a healthy year and see what happens....

I am getting fired up for Tuesday's rainout and the ensuing doubleheader a day later.

Boone says Judge may play at some point in the Boston series.

Bottom of ninth. Tying run on base. Shadows hanging over home plate. Torres fans badly on breaking balks. Sanchez quickly falls behind 0-2. He is 0-for-3 today and his average only fell one point. Make that 0-for-4. Torres and Sanchez struck out on 6 pitches.

Playing just well enough to lose. Whatever it takes. Yankees lose.

They were never close, unless you think playing .700 ball in June matters.

Cry all you want about injuries, Coup. Nobody cares. Part of the game.

1960 World Series. Yankees lose despite outscoring Jays by 9 runs.

NY's worst second half in the last 25 years was 1996 (.519), that year worked out well.

Without checking, I am guessing it is the night before Yom Kippur?

Do you know any good carpet cleaning companies? The Yankees are gonna need one for the visitors clubhouse this week.

I am a fan, Semper, don't let cranky Terry scare you away.

Judge and Chapman both with steps forward today, Judge had 11 live ABs against AJ Cole, Chance Adams and minor-league lefty Philip Diehl (will be in AAA next year, 2016 draft pick so does not need to be protected yet) and Chapman threw 21 pitches to Tyler Wade and Kyle Higashioka.

Today's game pushed back to 7:05 p.m. for weather reasons.
